Lol. Ray Mac is always around the ball. Dude is good. Don't know what game some of you are watching, but I think you should watch a little more closely.

It makes no sense whatsoever. We are not in such a dire situation that we need to cut everyone near or over the age of 30 that makes "too much." It is actually feasible that we resign Boldin and Whitner AND extend Aldon and Kaep. It's not likely but it is feasible.

To me Ray Mac was a absolute beast , I mean a total beast when we played the Giants in the 1st NFCC. When he is hurt is the issue , his play drops off so Ray Mac needs to be totally healthy or we need to give him a break during the year as I think he is wearing down quickly ...there is going to be changes in personnel gentlemen and I hope we do smart things to not totally screw up what level of players we have at the moment so let's hope some of these new rookies come in and make a difference as the NFC west will be very tough and I am also very concerened about Carolina.....they are closer than we think, mark my words. I believe the next Super bowl Champ will again be from a very tough NFC .........We have to win the division that's all there is to it.

Ray McDonald will not be cut. He's one of the best 3-Technique Ends in the NFL the past 5 years!
Best Case Scenario:
2014
We draft a DE this year in Round 3-6 that can sit, learn and grow.
Carradine hits his potential and rotates with Cowboy somewhere around 40/60
TJE and Ray McDonald rotate somewhere around 30/70
Ian Williams, Quentin Dial and Glenn Dorsey rotate at the Under Tackle spot 40/10/50
2015
Cowboy retires
Glenn Dorsey contract over
Carradine ends up being a stud RE. TJE or Rookie rotate 80/20
2nd Year DE/Lawrence Okoye and Ray McDonald rotate 40/60
Ian Williams, Quentin Dial rotate 60/40
2016
Ray McDonald contract over
Tank Carradine & 3rd Year DE OR Lawrence Okoye start at both DE spots with TJE and rookies/depth player rotating in
Ian Williams and Dial continue to hold down the UT position.
This is obviously assuming Vic Fangio doesn't change or alter his scheme at all...
With the way Baalke has been able to find talent in the trenches coupled with Tomsula's ability to extract the very most production out of his guys, I don't see the 49ers doing anything totally drastic to this Defensive Line for at least 2 more years. We have a very good thing going. If Carradine AND Okoye live up to the hype?? Oh boy, I'm calling it right now we will frickin dominate the LOS every single game.

Umm no. I don't get why so many are so content with Ian Williams, Jerod Eddie and Dial. Jerod Eddie was OK, nothing special. And Dial hardly has played and was a 5th round pick. Also Ian Williams I really haven't seen anything special from in the very limited time he's been in there.

I do not think that Ray McDonald has ever played in a 4-3 in the NFL.

Thoughts?
No one is talking about it because there is no chance (baring a major injury in the offseason/camp) he's going to be cut.

Injury issues? An NFL player that has got hurt a few times? Say it ain't so!!!
Ray has no more "injury issues" than anyone else in the NFL. It can be said he's been extremely healthy for an NFL D lineman actually considering he has played in at least 15 games a year since 2008, except for last year, where he started 14 games, and didn't miss a game at all in three of the last six seasons.
Talking about Ray McDonald like he has some long history of missing playing time due to injury is at best lazy and at worst downright (self-censored).

We didn't line up in a 34 any more than we do now. If you're talking about Nickle then yes, Manusky did a lot of that, but the team still does depending on who they are playing. There have been plenty of games of the last three seasons, the Packers games for example, where there were four guys with their hand in the dirt for more plays than we ran our base 34.

because he signed a new deal like 2yrs ago. FO does a good job at signing players before they get good, saves them money. Ian Williams, for example, if comes back and just dominates, we have a good player for a cap friendly price. Ray Mac aint goin nowhere, he's an unsung hero. Does his job so ahmad brooks can shine

Yep, you always keep the players who perform above their contract. We bought low with Ray Mac, and now we get the pay off.
Buy low sell high.
