1) I love Gore but we need to groom another RB now. Whether its Hunter or Lattimore....someone. Clearly with Seattle, Lynch was clearly the better running back. We need to get our running game back on track. Maybe Gore drops to 2nd on the depth chart and he comes in on 30% of the plays to keep him fresh. We need to get a back like a Lynch, like a Lacy, like a Moreno. I just think we need a back that can smack guys in the mouth.
2) First thing is bring back Boldin!!!! Second, we need to draft a startable WR...maybe a top 10. We have the draft picks to trade up.
3) More depth at DL. I know okoye is still on the bench but he's not a gaurantee. The Seattle DL rotates their DL and keeps them fresh, more the reason why it so hard to block Seattles DL. We need to try and apply that same gameplan for the DL. I know we did it in spurts with Eddie and Dial, but they just didn't get it done consistantly.
4) Cut Rogers. We have Brock and Culliver signed. Lets try and resign Brown and Wright and pick-up a guy in FA.

There's a difference between having a high red zone passer rating, and actually being efficient in the red zone.

at the end of last season when kaep and alex had played a very similar amount of snaps, most of their stats very close. the only big difference was in the td% inside the red zone. kaep was around 50 % or so and alex was around 70% or so. at the end of the day points are what matter. fg's are not 3 points, they're -4 points.

Kap needs to fine-tune his game...lest we forget, he just completed his season and a half being the starter. He didn't have a Brees, Rodgers, Favre, Peyton, etc. to understudy. He and Alex had a very good relationship, but much as I love Alex, he's not a HOF QB. Kap has learned on-the-job. Adding a WR with speed (and hopefully size) is needed, but so is utilizing the players already on board, like LM James, McDonald, Patton, etc. Also agree they need to use their RB's more as receivers...not sure why they don't, but they can all catch the ball and do something with it. I've been saying for the last few seasons they need to use Dixon more as a short ydg/goal line RB. We saw yesterday what he can do. Lattimore will become the starter if he stays healthy...he's got plenty of power and speed and of course, young legs. Hunter's still a dynamic runner...just needs to get the ball more. Most of the pieces needed are on the team...adding some more speed and explosiveness should get the offense to the next level.

But weren't they still averaging more points? I think they also had a lot more trips into the red zone with Kap.

truthfully, i dont know if they were scoring more. we were winning at essentially the same clip. but when we get down to the end, wheres theres only good teams left, redzone % is huge. last 2 playoff games we've lost are directly attributed to it. not just how they ended, look at the whole games where we were getting 3's instead of 7's. i'm not blaming 1 person, as a group they gotta get it figured out.

I agree 100% with Crabman. We needed to score 7 on that opening possession to set the tempo of the game. Too many FG's instead of TD's. I think the play calling is predictable especially on 1st down. Was excited when we drafted LMJ but hasn't been used to show off his abilities. Kaep will get better but definitely need someone to back him up. Roman looks like a genius at times but those times are few and far between. Keep Crabtree. Try to re-sign Boldin for another year and draft a WR or two. Need secondary help. I believe there will be plenty of good free agents who would love to come and play for the 49ers so I think we will be good no matter what at the beginning of the 2014-2015 season.

Cut Rodgers, Cut Whitner. I've had enough of them blowing the big plays on big games leading to a momentum shift.
Draft a CB first round. Sign Boldin. Get a young, new cheaper center.
Trust Baalke.

I didn't realize Lynch was running against the same defense Gore was.

it was like 4 times this year we went up 6-0 on teams instead of 10-0 or 14-0 and every single time we did that the other team responded with a td to make it 7-6. we just make it so much harder on ourselves then it has to be.
