good sign to the PS. but he was a huge bust but no risk in signing and seeing if he has anything in the tank
How can he be a huge bust if he's barely played? KC let him go because he was injured all the time. If he can get healthy, could be a nifty contributor, at least he has the speed to challenge a defense deep.
Busted goods
you can be a bust for being injury plagued. point is that he was drafted in the 4th round and got released and has been released by 3 teams this year. Even for a 4th rounder I would consider that a bust. But I admit he is a project so yea I am not ruling out that he can contribute at sometime in his career. he definitely has talent but so do a lot of receivers that just don't make it in the nfl. The way our team is with young receivers I am not holding my breath but I would love him to prove me wrong

Joique Bell was an obviously talented player who was on several teams before finally sticking with Detroit. He could be a lead back somewhere. You just never know sometimes.

I think a lot of people and teams are putting too much stock in him as a WR. Like i said he is an amazing ST player, and i personally would like to simply see his career translate into that. a ST specialist that can play the return man role, and also the gunner role. He is a stud at ST, but he will take time to develope as a WR and im not sure he ever gets there.
He could greatly contribute next year on ST, and then if he sticks, losing Spillman after 2014 wont be such a big blow to ST, will even have a shot at replacing LMJ as return man.
Like i said before, there is an outside chance we try to move LMJ in the offseason and get something back for our investment. While its not entirely his fault, he certainly hasnt panned out like we all hoped.

No. Simply put. He could play a good role as a slot WR (quick-twitch) and has a lot of return abilities but I don't get the impression that we're trying him out at either (i.e. giving him a REAL shot)?

yea he seems to be coming along with the reports ive heard but theres always a person that gets good reviews in camp and ends up being a bust. He just needs to beat out brandon lloyd and david reed. i think our coaching staff will definitely consider 6 wide receivers since we seem to have bad luck with injuries at that position so if he can show good return ability and ability to actually catch footballs and run routes i think he can make it. if he goes to the PS i think he will get swooped up at some point in the season

Agree. I think he still has PS eligibility, but decent chance he gets claimed. He has slot WR ability and return skills. I could see him on a roster that's not very deep at WR.

Everything he does, Ellington can do better, I just don't see a role for him on this team.

I think Jacobs, Wylie and possibly Reed could make some of the teams as a #5 or #6 but we just don't have room. We will have a hard enough time deciding if we should keep Lloyd and/or Osgood so I just don't see Wylie/Reed making it. We would have to keep 7 and then have them beat out Osgood by out performing him on ST which won't happen. I don't see how they could make it over Lloyd either. I see the depth chart as Crabtree, Boldin, Johnson, Lloyd, Ellington, Patton, Osgood, Jacobs, Wylie, Reed right now but of course Jacobs is on IR so Wylie Reed move up. These 3 would have a much better chance on another team and if they stay with us probably a better chance next year if we would lose Crabtree and with Lloyd and Osgood being FA's. Even then we probably draft someone to replace them. Jacobs best shot was last year when we were thin at wr and he still didnt get called up.

Wiley is definitely the better former Fresno State receiver.
