this is the same family who fired Mariucci after a 12-4 season and playoffs because they did not get along with him. i could see it from both sides. harbaugh maybe wanting to go back to college. his style is more collge anyway. usc he could build a dynasty there and stick it to carroll plus he has house in laguna beach so who knows.
i honestly think the league has caught up to harbaugh and his pro form style is not good for todays nfl its like we don't have forward passing game anymore.

Since Mooch:
Dennis Ericsson - 9 - 23 winning percentage .281
Mike Nolan 18 - 38 winning percentage .327
Mike Singletary 18 - 22 winning percentage .450
Jim Harbaugh 30 - 11 - 1 winning percentage .714 DO THE MATH
And additonally, look at what Nolan and Singletary did for Alex. NOTHING. Can't blame the coach "changing" that was the downfall for Alex . Alex did excellent once Jim Harbaugh took over (coaching change). And look, yet ANOTHER change at coaching with Reed, and Alex was undefeated up until last week.
Apparently GOOD head coaches are rare, and the Niners aren't letting Jim go. Roman, on the other hand........

Actually, the 12-4 season was 2001, they were 10-6 in 2002 and that's when Mariucci was fired...and it was Jed's uncle who "nudged" both Walsh and Seifert into retirement.
That said, I do see Harbaugh going back to college at some point, still think he'd love the Michigan job...but not yet. He'll be here in 2014 for the new stadium, and most likely finishes out his contract. But I'm not so sure he's here beyond that.

Mariucci was fired for being a vagina in the 2002 NFC playoff game vs Tampa Bay

Walsh drove Eddie D crazy and vice-versa, even if there was truth to him driving them crazy I wouldn't worry.

Plus I wouldn't see Harbs going to USC, he might have a house around there but he's loyal to a fault and coached Stanford and I doubt would want to be compared t Carroll. In my opinion, the only college team Harbs might ever coach, should he ever go back, is Michigan.

Uh...Harbaugh is on a 5 year contract. I don't see him leaving the NFL to go BACK to college. He could have just stayed at Stanford if thats what he wanted to do.

Yeah, not like we've ever seen a college coach come to the NFL and then go back to college.
I do agree though that he finishes out his initial 5-yr contract, with the caveat that if at some point down the road things just totally went off the rails and York fires him...but I don't see that happening.

i wonder about his long term staying power, seems he doesnt stay too long at one place, but i dont think we're anywhere near firing him or parting ways.
