That's because all of the damage was "concussive", i.e. as in a "concussion". Which is what the NFL is trying to protect against.

Bleeding lips don't cause brain damage as far as I am aware. Blows to the HEAD (not neck area) do.

What's even more amazing, is seeing the entire Atlanta sideline erupt as they saw the hit. Amazing how the officials can't see what people across the field can see.

It went uncalled because Matt Ryan isn't Brees, Peyton, Brady or Rodgers.

Either that or the refs are trying to help the Saints.

I am not a conspiracy theorist, but it's beginning to look like a combination of the two.

Wonder if the NFL throws a $16,000 fine at Hicks for a much worse, more blatant hit, grabbing the facemask/helmet all the way down.

Keep in mind that Hicks, the guy who grabbed Ryan by the facemask, was the same one who took down Kaepernick by his facemask as well with no call resulting, this is getting absurd.
