It amuses me to read that people think that every game plan is identical regardless of who is the opposing QB.
You can net your bottom dollar that more blitzes would have been dialed up facing a better QB.
You don't have to run every play in the Playbook if the few you are running are successful.
I would be more worried about the lackadaisical play in the third quarter then the lack of a pass rush.
This was the perfect game to lean on the secondary and let them carry the defense. The experience will be greatly needed when the they face a great QB.

OK...we had no sacks. We won 42-10. Henne only had a handful of meaningful throws...what's the problem?

Who cares. The only thing that matters when playing the Jags is that no one significant got hurt. we only gave up 10pts, we ran the ball easily and took care of business. now its bye week time on a nice win streak.
Lets all pull for the Rams tonight and somehow hope a miracle happens tonight.

No joke. Seriously it isn't as if our D wasn't outstanding in the game.

Dude, Fangio never feels like he has to blitz, regardless of the QB. He will change coverage packages, but when it comes to the pass rush you can almost bet your paycheck it will be the down 4. That is perfect if they can bring at least a little pressure, and why they could survive the last couple of years doing that ... because they had a premier rusher. It will be nice if he is back for the 2nd half push.

Yes - 0 sacks is a bummer, and little pressure is a bigger bummer!
But, my "gripe" is - What the heck was Justin Smith doing in the game at the end!! Rest him! Even with the bye week coming up next that guys needs minimal wear and tear on his body.
Lemonier (sp?) - I thought he would bring more pressure - not Aldon Smith numbers - but more than we've seen. To me, it looks like a lot of times they are not asking him to pressure - his responsibility seems outside contain? He seems to have similar first step quickness and power to Aldon, but not the closing burst Aldon has.
Any thoughts?

My thoughts are that their recievers really were not a threat to our DBs, especially with help from the LBs. We didn't get any sacks because the goal was to shut down MJD. Which we did. As to what J Smith was doing in the game. Last time I checked we don't have a lot of D linemen left.

The niner defense needed to keep the Jag offense on the field so the Niner offense could get some rest.

Jay has a point. While I personally have no complaints for the defense play, pass rush is going to need to step it up a notch when we face Brees and mobile QBs like Cam and RG3. Hopefully by then we'll have both Tank AND Aldon suiting up .
No I don't think he has got a point. Henne regularly threw the ball before his receivers were ready, because he was about to get sacked. Whilst I would have like to have seen him being taken down, had a "better qb" been playing and had that qb hung onto the ball longer, he would have been sacked around three times.
All of the above. People should watch the game instead of just watching the stat line.

we held them to ten points and one long run. you got backers playing like ours did sunday you are only going to get a few yards at a time. in my opinion, this team is scary good right now and will only get better by getting some guys healthy and getting some guys back. sure we got a issue with the return game but at least we have some options there with current players who can fix that. at the bye, we are one of the best teams in the nfl that no one is talking about and i feel sorry for those who can not see this

I'll take a 42-10 win on a 2 week road trip across the ocean with no sacks committed and NO SACKS ALLOWED BY OUR O-LINE any day. Move along people there is nothing to see here. We're on a 5 game win streak playing "smash mouth" football and you all need to enjoy the moment and stop complaining.
I'd rather read about the million and 1 ways we should trade for Josh Gordon than about our D not sacking a QB during a 42-10 win.
