Agreed! Time to bring home number 6!Originally posted by 49erforlife:This is a no brainer! You must go after Gordon with the bank. You include any of the following to make it happen:
Baldwin
Williams
Dixon
Draft picks
Nnamdi
Rodgers (yes it's time because Wright is back)
Imagine your receiving core going into playoffs - Boldin, Crabs, Gordon, Manningham. I challenge any team in the NFL to defend that with VD and Gore on field as well. This championship door doesn't stay open forever and Gordon could be the type of move just like the niners made in their glory years with Deion. We have enough picks and KC is giving us their 2nd rounder. Baalke needs to get this done now.

Put it this way... once you get into the lower half of the rounds (possibly 30's) a 1st is basically a 2nd and a 2nd is basically a 3rd. So if we traded a 2nd and Baldwin for Gordon we would basically be giving AJ Jenkins and a 3rd for Gordon... at the beging of the season I'm sure 98% of the zone would have been game for this.

We don't need Josh Gordon.
Look at the teams that loaded up on free agents: Tampa Bay signed Revis and Dashon to HUGE contracts on defense. They also added former Chargers wideout Vincent Jackson on offense. What has that done for them?
Thank you...

For Gordon's production we would be paying him bird food. Yes we have won five straight but it's not like we were playing world beaters. I'm not telling anyone how they should feel or that I'm write and everyone else (who does not agree with me) is wrong, but if you don't think we could use Gordon NOW and for the next two years your blind and stubron. After this season we only have Crabs, Patton, and I think KW under contract. Logic says that we would draft a WR in the off season, why not cut to the chase and take a proven comodity now.

With Tuesday's trade deadline closing in, the Josh Gordon whispers hover in the ether like a bad fart.
It's time to clear the air and close this topic down: The Cleveland Browns would be nuts to part with their ultra-talented wide receiver.
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap2000000271314/article/browns-would-be-crazy-to-trade-josh-Gordon
Gordon wants to stay in Cleveland or so it is reported in in the article.
"I feel like I'm where I want to be," Gordon said Sunday, per The Plain Dealer. "I'm not saying I'm playing at a superb level. I still don't feel I've reached my full potential and I'm always going to feel like that until I'm done playing the game."
In a league flush with players who would rather live in San Diego or New York than along the lip of gray Lake Erie, Gordon -- who's heard all the gossip -- said: "I do want to stay in Cleveland. Cleveland is my first home, the team I got drafted to. It's a great place to be. I love the fans in Cleveland and everything about it. But business is business."

If we get him, it won't be out of desperation of the grey matter surrounding our 'current' WR situation, but rather that of whether Harbaalke sees Josh as a 'future' investment. -We grab Gordon, it'll be because we feel we won't be interested in extending Boldin (as well as other intangibles).
-Not a lot of quality WRs hitting FA like Gordon in '14, not to mention this team sucks at drafting 2nd round picks and wide receivers, so this trade wouldn't hurt, only improve our future prospects.

well said, gordon makes a lot of sense in so many ways, he is worth a 1st in my opinion, and track record shows more often than not we miss on WR in the draft.

Have any of you seen what Gordon has been doing with the Browns? Let's name the quarterbacks that have been throwing to him:
Brian Hoyer
Brandon Weeden
Josh Campbell
None of these quarterbacks are Kapaernick. All this talk about high priced free agents are missing the point. The guy is on a rookie contract and is being paid pennies as discussed. Let's play devil's advocate - what if Crabs doesn't comeback as his normal self. Are you willing to throw this season away because we don't play football to make the playoffs. We play the game to win superbowls.

We aren't SEA so we won't be doing any Percy Harbin type deals. With 6 top 100 picks we can get a couple great WRs in this draft. We just need to wait for Mario and Crabtree to get back. We will be fine with the style of football we are playing. Josh Gordon is just too expensive and then he will need to learn the offense and keep Boldin and Crabtree off the field and earn Kap trust. I will pass on that

The trade deadline is rapidly approaching, but I am going to guess that if we do not obtain Gordon in a trade, this discussion will not go away.
It will simply transmutate into a we should have gotten the trade done discussion with Baalke being the highlighted villain.
It's only the beginning my fello NINER pals
