So his contract voided. Dead money right now. Just not a lot of it because of the way the contract was structured

he has never been that fast.. you show me someone who can make the tough catches, can block and be the competitor he is, then i will dump him. we need all the good vets and leaders we can get on this team. and if he can still produce, thats a double plus

I Won't soon forget his first game in a Niner uniform, 13rec 208yds 1td vs GB. We got someone with the personality of our def to play off. We was possessed. Made every catch and many one handers. Honorable mention, the catch over earl Thomas NFCCG.

I would shell out another one year at $6 for him. His leadership and competitiveness is invaluable to this young team. Let him play every other drive.

Boldin is the exact type of receiver that Chip craves. Big, good route runner, good blocker, great at working the intermediate routes, and a threat to get yac. Another year. Possibly two would be beneficial to this team for his competitive spirit and leadership alone, but the fact that his strengths are the very things that Chip wants to do in the passing game is plenty of reason to get this man back.

All of this. He in many ways embodies what we need. I'd do one more season easy.

Coach on the field.
I could see Smelter and him really connecting like how Bell and McDonald connected and how they strive to dish out the punishment on every play whether that's in run blocking or finishing off some RAC. Just that mentality...it could rejuvenate Boldin for one final year and spark Smelter to start his career.

agreed and agreed.. I hope he wants to come back and play for another year with SF. The days of me obsessing over 4.3 speed and 6' 3" + height are done. Rather the hard-working, smart WRs that can run routes and catch.

I think he fits nicely into what Chip is looking for in a wideout. Strong and versatile

You think he wants to stay other year? I'd welcome him back.

Love me some Boldin. But I was ready to say let him walk, but the every other drive idea is a good one. This only works, though. If Boldin is prepared to be a player-coach to the younger WR. A sort of Cris Carter mentor type role.

Hopefully he is a 49er next season.
