wow. boldin must have missed the webzone staff meetings where we have gotten worse while everyone else has gotten better
You know Justin Tuck said the exact same thing during his Raiders press conference..."the sky's the limit for us."

I really hope, for your own sake, that you're not being serious.

For the second year in a row, a #49ers WR led the league in Yards per Route Run from the slot.
And Anquan has a lot to do with that.

When I first read what what the PFF guy tweeted, I thought it meant the average depth (how far downfield) the slot WR ran per route, regardless of whether he was targeted with a pass. Now that would be a compelling stat since it would show the average depth per route that is being run from the slot. So is Boldin going short, intermediate, or deep? Although I don't even know how that would be properly quantified.
What the chart actually shows is out of all the routes ran from the slot, how many actual receiving yards (catch yards + RAC) did the WR produce. So this is more of an efficiency stat, I guess. Thanks for sharing.

I think Crabtree was top on that list the previous season, and if I remember correct it was by a pretty fair margin.

Hard to digest if this is a positive/good stat to be leading or not. One perspective is that Boldin was efficient and caught a lot of passes out of the slot while the other perspective is that the ball isn't really being spread around to other receivers.

which shows we don't specifically need a "speedy slot WR" but just somebody with SPEED

We watched Anquan in the SB beat us over the head with jumpballs on the sidelines/OOB, both for short, intermediate and longer routes. Why in the world roman NEVER used anquan once this way I will never know. Also, why this play wasn't called all day long I don't know either. If kap can't throw that pass, make him work on it til he gets it down, and always make it the same yardage, 7 yds, so kap will really know how to throw it. If that last pass had been to anquan on the OOB line, I bet he makes the catch if Sherman was on him. In effect, we had a guy recovering from an Achilles tear, not our best leaper at the time, put in a position to make the jumpball catch, not Crabs' best ball, and definitely Anquan's best ball to catch anywhere.
I am almost tempted to call roman and JH, right now and say, "c'mon guys , you know who has the talent for sidelines jumpballs. Use him." I was so pizzed at the end of the game I wanted to cry...or help roman into and old folks home.
This is a desperate call for Coach Jimbo to re-evaluate, and start making the calls himself. Roman, in the RZ and in close...frankly doesn't get it. C'mon, coach, you know better than roman what your team can do. Call your own damn plays. Or get somebody who can. What you got now is 12-4 OC, a good many wins against sub .500 teams. Get an OC that knows how to call the O. Your friend and buddy...he can't cut it and 3 yrs later has not improved.

I still like what Boldin brings. I say that this guy should remain a Niner until the team has a younger player that can not only fill that type of role, but excel at it. Boldin is a fighter and especially with the level of physicality in the division, his presence is a requirement. As long as he can ball, I do not care if he is 40. He and VD were the entire passing offense while Crabs was out and with Crabtree on the field they are a great compliment to each other.

True. I said it when we got Boldin that no matter his age his game translates to a long career. He will be an all time player when he is done as far as total yards and receptions. He has been productive from year one until now. He is the type guys you want mentoring young receivers and yet making plays on Sundays. He is the best mentor player older vet we've had out of Bruce D Jax Moss and now himself. This move was one of Baalke finest

And you know why we got him? Because the Ravens had just dumped $21 mil on Flacco's head. Guess what? Then they had to let go 5 or 6 other starters and all pros because of Flacco's incredibly inflated and undeserved paycheck. Sound familiar, anybody, Kap, Paraag, Trent?
All I can say to that is, "thank God they did".

And it'll force us to something similar when the time comes to pay Kaep. It is what it is. That's why you need to draft well, and consistently get value out of comp. picks.
