Well I am assuming Cunningham was brought on board because they think Aldon will be out quite some time. If he was only going to be out a few weeks I don't think they would bother. Before he signed we only had 3 OLBs with Aldon on the NFI. Even though Lemonier and Skuta played well I'm assuming Cunningham is the emergency guy for now. If one of them would go down he would be active the game after.

As for Collie I don't know if he is an upgrade at this point over Williams or Moore.... Harper probably not going anywhere. Osgood is a ST guy so that's why he is on. I was pulling for Collie and wanted him over Hall but Collie really let me down this pre-season. Dropped balls and just didn't look like his old self at all.

Can't believe we shipped Haralson and Johnson for table scraps and now we are signing table scraps....

ughh!

Have either done anything on their new teams?

Haralson has a sack...

Would you rather have Cunningham over either of them?

He looked very promising during pre season and had great speed and mobility. Far more impressive than McCoy but I guess the FO sees something in him that everyone else doesn't . Then they contemplate signing GARBAGE like Skelton??? How does that make us better? It doesn't. Behind Kap, that makes the QB depth even thinner than it already was. Just plain stupid ! I'm not sure why they were looking at the QBs to make cuts to begin with when trash like Marlon Moore stinks up the roster and we all know the WR core needs a little help right now. Unbelievable.

If BJ gets claimed off waivers before we sign him to PS (which is very likely) I will be pissed !

you are completely right. i've seen a lot of skelton. aside from being a loser on the field, he has no charisma; players don't gravitate toward him. he has a d-bag personality. only john skelton and some not-too-bright GMs think skelton is a player.
BJ has a bright future as a long-term backup here. waiving him incurs great risk. moves like this mean you end up on the losing end half the time. case in point: marquis.

Haralson has a sack and 4 tackles in his first game. Has 1 tackle since. Johnson has 1 tackle.

Well it's not Cunningham over them. We have Lemonier and Skuta instead of them. Cunningham is here because of Aldon's issues which we didn't expect to happen. We aren't picking Cunningham over Haralson and Johnson. We picked a younger cheaper Lemonier and a ST player/decent vet over those guys. Unfortunately, Cunningham will probably be gone once Aldon is back so he might not be able to show his potential.

He did outplay boy wonder in 2011 and beat us.
It's Nate Davis situation all over again.

He certainly has potential but he's also a project, there's way too much crying going on for a guy who clearly wasn't ready to start a game in the NFL. If all goes well, he goes to the PS, next year he gets a shot at the #2 spot against Skelton.

You cry about Marcus Cooper I'll cry about Daniels. JK, I liked Cooper too and would have kept him over Stupar and Ventrone. I don't get on people for crying about losing players because Baalke isn't perfect. He's one of the better GMs in the league but he's not perfect. I mean there are some out there who cry about every move which I don't like but the people that pick and choose players to complain about losing I don't mind. Big difference between being upset with a move here and there and complaining about every single move like a few posters do here. No need to mention names I'm sure you can figure them out Phoenix.

Still better then Cunningham.

My point is, we could of had Haralson, Brooks, Lemonaire and Skuta playing now instead of Brooks Skuta, Lemonair and Cunningham.

This is very true..I think people are looking at players we let walk based on how they would be playing for US more than anything...as opposed to their new teams and how they are currently used. That's important too. Continuity and familiarity with our defense should not be overlooked as a key factor.

Yeah, we are a better team so Haralson would get more chances to make plays.

Why would he? If someone offers him a job, he should take it

Lockette, Jerod-Eddie, Netter and Cam Johnson all turned down 53 man roster spots to stay with us. Some guys would rather be with better coaching and a better team. Some times it works out for the players some times it doesn't. Some of the guys that signed elsewhere are doing nothing on bad teams. Other guys like Jerod-Eddie stayed and are now contributing on a potential playoff team and had a chance to go to the SB last year. Actually all these guys that turned down teams got a chance to go to the Super Bowl last year which I'm sure they will never forget and maybe not get to go back again in their careers. Heck some of these guys will be in the semi-pros soon and they can say they got to go to a SB with the 49ers.

Yeah that worked out real well for 3 of those 4.. They're not even on the team anymore, and it's not like the 49ers are hurting to get Eddie some more playing time. 53 man rosters guarantee salary (to a large extent). Practice Squad do not.

not only that but posters, who spend alot of time reminding us of how great JH is with quarterbacks seem to be forgetting that right now. I am spending no time wringing my hands over the fact BJ could get picked up by seattle. that is not a game changer and he can not tell any secrets because , based on the last game, seattle knows them anyway.again, this is a big fat non story for me because it does not matter if it is colt 45 or red skelton ,. if ck goes down , we are in big trouble anyway so it really does not matter who the back up is. i am more concerned about the game of ck than any backup quarterback we have

i liked him coming out of florida. reminded me of a poor-man's terrell suggs. i was surprised he didn't stick in NE.

a small part of me wishes it would have been a d lineman and not a backer but then i also remember last year when we got in so much trouble with lack of depth in the backer area. what happened or should have happened with two x niners no longer interests me. i think this is a wise signing, aldon may be gone for a long time and maybe this guy will make some plays and make it tough for us to get rid of him when and if aldon comes back this year
Bj Daniels?? what! How can you cut him? I'm going to say this for the 1st time. F**K Harbaalke!
