We need a true nose tackle. We always needed one. I always wanted one. For two years we would have our linebackers cleaning up the mess in the trenches and be able to run sideline to sideline. Now they're in the middle of a soft box with only six and getting caught in the piles.
So in effect, we bring up Whitner and have easy passing lanes given up when there's a qb on the other side who can find them. We can't cover from a single high either when there's 3 receivers either because we're slidi ng Aldon over and thats a disaster. And with our nickel, we are not good enough to play press coverage and then the zone we play gets eaten up by good qbs. No use in press coverage because the pocket isn't getting any push with the lack of that NT.
We are giving up 5+ a carry and the qbs are able to scramble out of play action because Willis and Bowman have to commit too much to the possible run. Its unbelieveable. All I can say is thank God for Justin Smith.
When we had a NT to clog, we never worried about the 2nd and threes, the nine yard runs. Wow. I remember the 2nd and 11s, the constant third and longs. Thats what gets our defense off the field. Thats how our backers feasted on tackles and turnovers. Now they have to worry about blocks too and gameplans for. It sounds simple but our D is being asked to do too much work with our lack of a run stuffer. Thats where dominating defense starts.

Maybe I'm the only fan who thinks this, as long as the coaches see this, thats all that matters. because it affects our controlling the clock on offense among these other issues.
This is one of our biggest problems that are getting us smacked around

Alot of us have been calling for a true NT for years, but that is not why we have lost the last two games. If we had any offensive production whatsoever the defense would look light years better.

Sucks we won't find out if Ian Williams was the NT solution.

I was saying it for awhile in the draft threads.......you either need a big space eater or a super athletic guy in the middle, now the 49ers have a Chiefs reject there.

YES. Obviously we have no clue what shape he's in or if he's just decided to mail his body in, but IF he's been training, then I absolutely think he can be our '03 Ted Washington on Pats.

f**king sickening.
I cant stand seeing this Defense giving up 5 yards a carry when we're pretty stout on most other defensive positions in regards to stopping the run.

antonio dixon is a space-eating, big sloppy. i thought he was decent. don't know why he's unsigned. he's better than jerod and that wyoming rookie we got.

WINNER!!!!!
I've been chanting his name for days now. Dixon would be a cheap, quick fix.
Tony Jerrod-Eddie is NOT a NT, please lets stop with this, before anymore damage is done.
