Last year the Ravens were crushed by the Texans 42-13
In 2011 the Giants were crushed by the Saints 49-24
In 2008 the Steelers were crushed by the Titans 31-14
In 2007 the Giants were crushed by the Packers 35-13 and by the Vikings 41-17
In 2006 the Colts were crushed by the Jaguars 44-17
In 2005 the Steelers were crushed by the Colts 26-7
In 2003 the Patriots were crushed by the Bills 31-0
In 2001 the Patriots were crushed by the Dolphins 30-10
All those teams won the SB that year.
The year we last won the SB we were absolutely killed by the Eagles 40-8.
In 1981 and 1988 we lost by 17 to the Falcons in Week 3.
It happens guys. Yes, we are a far from perfect team. But we are still one of the top teams in this league and one of the youngest teams in the league. On the road against a very good team in Week 2 does not define who we are.

Yup. Week 3 can't get here fast enough. I hope people stay off the nooses until then!

I've personally never had confidence in Roman and his college offense. There isn't a single WCO aspect of it. I think Fangio is a good DC but extremely stubborn and about as vanilla as a 3-4 DC comes (and that is AFTER Nolan was here). Harbaugh IS showing me the lack of discipline as of late and it seems that almost all of these issues are becoming like Ground Hog Day...the nightmare, not the movie. I geniuinely thought Mangini would be helpful to Roman and Seattle would be some nice evidence of this. What we just "saw" wasn't complicated coming into to it, during it and esp. after reviewing the assessment. We have more than enough personnel so that can't be too much of the reason. I saw a Rams team beat us last year with one single weapon on offense...Amendola (and he had a broken collar bone). So I thought Scheme was the Theme for 2013. So far, I'm not seeing us learn from our obvious mistakes, trends and shortcomings, which is something I thought Harbaugh aspires too...to getting better just a little, each day. This is not an end-of-the-world alarm here but I do hear some sirens off in the distance.
I think every OC in the league knows how to attack our defense because we run the same thing ALL THE DAMN TIME!!!!!
I actually like Roman better than Fangio because I thought his running game was innovative. BUT WHERE WAS IT?? But you're right, the passing game is not as advanced as you would hope for an NFL team. Another poster was right, we would almost be better served by playing like Alex was still our QB and calling those plays. Lets get back to the run people!
ADJUSTMENTS ADJUSTMENTS ADJUSTMENTS!!!!!!! Every team in the NFL lives and dies by how they adjust the gameplanning during the course of a game. This is like chess, except it seems like we pull out our Queen first all the time, and if it doesn't work, we have no other answer. Don't we dress 46 players? Where was Hunter? Where was Patton? Where was McDonald??

Run Defense - the DL is getting moved back on many runs a good 3-5 yards and had many missed tackles as well. I stated this may have been a game we needed a 2-gap NT or consider a 4 man DL. Lynch had 98 yards and Turbin had 31 more. Both had several big runs called back d/t holding penalties.
Uh oh, did you just actually suggest the 49er defense had trouble vs. the run? In another thread I stated that while I don't think that OVERALL the Niner D has been terrible, the run D did start to get worn down by OL/Lacy in the 2nd half of GB game, and was shredded by the Seahawks, especially up the middle. And like you, I noted how it was clearly evident the push the Seahawk OL was getting on the DL. There's a few people who acted like I said Bill Walsh was nothing but a dirty old kiddie-toucher. Apparently in some rose-colored universes it's not much of a concern to give up ~180 yds rushing in a game.
As I've said earlier, not panic button-type stuff. Yet. But over the last 8 games, the defense has only been "dominant" (relative to the bar they've set) in one game, and that was the Cardinals game. Yes they did do well in containing Russell Wilson, but teams are allowed to also run the ball and they didn't do so well in dealing with Lynch/Turbin. I think the secondary will be an "issue" the entire season, although Reid looks like he just might be a star in the making. And even though this is the "new" NFL with video game offense, the 49ers are a team that wants to run the ball on offense and stop it on defense. I truly hope adjustments are made to get the 49ers back to that, because I do think that's a winning formula for them.

Maybe Kaepernick needs to spend more time studying film, rather than filming commercials. Same goes for Harbaurgh.
LOL ITS WEEK TWO PEOPLE WEEK 2 GOD lol. OH NOW WE ARE 1-1 WORLD IS OVER. Jesus man this zone sometimes.
its really unreal. if you looked at our sched and said we'll about 4 games, in seattle was totally one of them. we can go back to singletary days if yall would like. i get being frustrated, but its becoming a little much,.
I guess it is really disappointing for fans because two games in a row Seattle has just dominated the 49ers. Definitely not a good sign and it has now made winning the division a priority just to avoid playing there in January. Honestly though, I never can understand how people freak out of the 49ers lose a game, even if they lose it really badly. Why would anyone expect them to go undefeated when we all know they have weaknesses like the WR corps. Plus, it sucks to lose to Seattle but they are also a very good team. It is really hard to win games against the other good teams, especially in their house.
I've watched the 49ers get destroyed by Philly and then go on to win a Super Bowl, and then get destroyed last year by the Seahawks and nearly win a Super Bowl. A regular season loss never dictates the season outcome.

Yeah I don't understand all this doomsday stuff. I understand having questions and concerns about specific issues with the team, but to start insinuating that the season is lost, that we can't win with this coaching staff, that our QB is obviously a failure, that our defense is now mediocre, that our coach is a loser, etc. is totally irrational. If you're going to have emotional swings that large after every game, then maybe you should stay away from football for your own health.

Hey good job with the review !!
You know what scares me ? That is one heck of a longggggg list !!
And you know what scares me even more ? If the coaches can't sort their sh*t out and we lose to the Colts, I think the 9ers fandon will explode.

The lack of adjustments is very concerning. We never seem to make any adjustments until it is too late. The players play totally undiscplined which is a reflection of their head coach.
I hope Im wrong.
Me too.
Ever since that infamous 5 yard drive in the Super Bowl, I realized they were simply out of their depth. There is no way in hell that any given team can't drive through 5 yards with 4 goes when your life depended on it especially with the 9ers being as talented as they are supposed to be.
Then come this Seattle beat down. I forced myself to stay positive and gave our guys a chance. I said to myself even if we can't win, surely they won't let the Seahawks totally dominate us again. Heck, just like I knew in my heart, we got completely gang-raped AGAIN !! There is absolutely no excuse for that !! I would have been OK if we only lost by a few points, but not when we couldn't even score a single TD !! That is just pathetic !! There was only 1 team that couldn't score a single TD against them from last year, the Cards and we are the second. Even when they hung a 50 burger on the Bills, the Bills at least scored 17 points. If you look at the better caliber teams, the Packers lost and shouldn't have because of that Hail Mary by 2 points and the Pats lost by 1 point. We should be ashamed of ourselves !!
By the way, Harbaugh better wake the hell up cos if he is not careful he could lose to the Colts. If that happens, I can guarantee you the entire 9ers fandom will explode !!

I don't think it's doomsday in here but after three years (really, the past two years) and with the deepest roster in the NFL, there are CLEARLY some common themes and patterns that have become red flags for some of us (no matter what week we are in as most, like myself, outlined this past off season in my Team Needs thread). That doesn't mean we don't keep persective. We're still one of, if not, the best teams in the NFL. And we realize, certain teams, esp. the physical/power running teams, just seem to match up much better with us and have our number...Hawks, Rams, Ravens, Giants, Vikings, etc.
The point is, as fans, we can see these and they still haven't been corrected despite having even MORE talent this year...false starts, late plays coming in, rushed snaps, untimely penalties, bone-headed plays/calls, no outlets for CK in the passing game, the college offense-approach, no run game, getting clearly out-coached, Whitner in coverage and who he's assigned to, our 3rd CB, games in Seattle, poor pass protection/run blocking, trouble facing physical defenses, power running teams, W-W-L, unSpecial Teams, losing every phase of the game whren we do lose, etc.
My concern is that this coaching staff isn't learning from clear-cut mistakes here and isn't that Jim Harbaugh's motto? And yes, while it is ONLY week 2, these patterns continue to be salient when we do lose.
