Is it time for a change at RB?

I think it's because they believe colin can be that payton manning, aaron Rodgers or tom brady qb a guy who can lead the game and throw for 400 yards and win. Problem is even those guys need a running game to open things up. We need to get back to running, and trust the oline and gore and hunter in that. Give colin the Alex smith treatment, run the rock, simplified the offense until we get some positive plays and let colin grow into that roll of 400 yard passer over his career, no need to rush him to be that guy right now, we have the talent around him to let him grow and improve and take the weight off. Lets use that.
we change back to normal 49er football watch Gore hit 100

Off Topic but Bruce Miller is a converted DE to Fullback. Not an H-Back. Not a Tight End. Not a Wide Receiver. He's a FULLBACK, so how about using him that way.

More like it's time for Roman to pull his head out of his butt in situations like last night...

The o line has been the issue not Gore. Also Bruce Miller blocking has been trash.

Bruce Miller is a waste of a roster spot, we need a fullback that is a threat to run, and receive, or we shouldn't bother carrying one on the roster.

wow 1 bad game and here come the fans who complete trash players and say they suck, You guys are barely fans anyway, giving up players that fast.
miller was one of the few who made plays in my opinion and even he had a bad mistake. people are just lashing out because we got beat up so bad all the way around at seattle vs a hated coach and rabid fans and on national tv much to the glee of collinsworth. no one is immune I guess,. hope it settles down by mid week

To be fair to Bruce, since when is a fullback supposed to take on that much of an offensive role? Sure, it would have been nice if he caught a few he didn't, but come on, a gameplan that relies on the FB in the passing game is doomed from the start. Miller is a basher with some + receiving skills, but he is not a receiver.

Insofar as Gore, what I've seen is that Gore looks noticeably slower this year. Having said that, it is awfully hard to pin too much on him because the o-line and the scheme weren't doing him any favours last night. The job of the coach is to put players in a position to succeed and they failed last night. Oh well. Early in the season.

Seattle deserves this win, and I hope SF takes their lesson home and learns from it. There is a rematch, you know. :)

On the plus side, the 49ers defense played very well for the most part. Clean up some of the stupid penalties and the score is very different. Also, if the offense wasn't so inept last night the 49ers defense doesn't wear down at the end.

"since when is a fullback supposed to take on that much of an offensive role?" Go ask coach Rathman.

I'm not hating on Miller per see, but many teams have eliminated the Fullback position. They do this because in the last decade offensive styes have changed, and the Fullback has become a vestigial appendage, of no real use. Rather than Miller we could have another receiver, or running back available on game day.

If we are going to buck the current trend and carry a fullback, he should be of value, he should do more than block.

The reason Miller had a few looks last night is that is what the Seahawk defense was giving up, imagine if we had a playmaker at fullback, he could have taken over the game. The Seahawks left Miller and Gore alone on the check down and dump offs, because they are not a big threat to catch the ball.

So in short, if we keep a FB lets get us a real threat at that roster spot, or lets deactivate, or cut miller, and bring in another receiving threat, or a back to spell Gore.
If people can't see our O-line is terrible right now I have NO idea what your watching. RB is NOT the problem
Frank was ruled finished after his first knee injury at the U, when his second happened he was dead and buried. Many draft gurus thought the 49ers wasted a pick when his name was called. The last 3 years he's been declared finished after a bad game. Guys that have bet against Frank are in the poorhouse.

please tell me of another FB in the NFL that is like that? Vonta Leach with his 175 total yards? John Khun with his 200 total yards? Henry Hynoski....nope
and you cant cound Marcel Reece because he was the ONLY running threat on the Raiders.

Plus Bruce Miller is on pace for 32 receptions on the year.....So I guess I dont really understand

I think it will. We have to lower the $$$ that will go on the backfield to sign other key players that are about to be FA.

Agreed, if we ran a traditional WCO, this would be a non-issue. Rathman would be a dynamic short yardage back and Gore/Hunter/James would be racking up the yards behind him. He'd also be used as a primary outlet when CK was in trouble and every once in a while, we'd use him on a wheel route out of the back field down the sideline for a mismatch on a LB for an easy TD. That is the WCO in a nutshell. The routes we had Miller run? I don't think even our WR's outside Boldin could make that play...catch. I do love that they tried to feature him more; just hate HOW they used him.

The problem with that is our defense can't stop anybody. The Alex Smith treatment worked because back then our defense was actually good. The D has regressed a lot.
