Longshot, but I hope they keep Jacobs...I'd rather have him than Kyle Williams. Also liked how Hampton ran all preseason, James' injury might impact decision on Hampton.
Jacobs will hit the PS, there is no danger of him getting picked up... lets remember he still only ways 181 pounds. He has definitely showed flashes, but not enough for another team to commit a roster spot for him when players like Collie and Hawkins are potential cuts.

181, I'm not sure necessarily a reason to get hung up about that but could be an issue if braintrust thinks it causes problems with him getting off the line...and not like Williams weighs much more, what, 185-190? Moot point though, because they're probably going to go with "safer with the known" and use Williams for PR and KR now that James is hurt. I'm just not a Williams fan, I'd rather have Hawkins and Jacobs on the roster with Hawkins handling the return duties.

Yeah kinda outta the blue. He reminds me alot of Dominique Zeigler. Tall, lanky with good hands and so so speed. I wouldn't be shocked if they kept him on the PS to bulk him up and develop him some more.

There's someone every year that the WZ irrationally latches onto for no real reason during the preseason.
People get bored and desperate for football to start and get caught up in the preseason despite its general meaninglessness.
Ted Ginn had 149 yards and 2 TDs last night. You would've thought he was Calvin Johnson watching him out there carving up 2nd, 3rd and 4th teamers. I bet they're going nuts over him on the Panthers equivalent of the WZ as we speak.

Just because he has two 4th quarter TD's from Daniels against defenders who probably won't be on an active NFL roster.

Speaking of which, the guy who fell down at Hawkins' feet on the play was cut today by the Chargers.

Or could be I watched Jacobs at Kennedy (Richmond) and saw some good things while he was at Utah St, liked what I've seen/heard in preseason and I'm simply rooting for him to make the team. But your dimestore psychoanalysis is greatly appreciated.

My point was he was an UDFA who is relatively small. Not saying it cant happen, but if a team wants to clear a spot for an undersized UDFA rookie let them. Its not what my armchair GMing would do but thats also why im behind a computer screen and not a nice oak desk at the practice facility.

OK, so you've irrationally latched onto him making the team for a few reasons--albeit ones that don't have much to do with him deserving a roster spot.
Just kidding. I'm hoping Jacobs ends up on the PS. I like him a lot more than I liked Lockette. Jacobs can actually play the game instead of just being a set of measurables.

Yeah because Jacobs can actually play football. Never understood the Lockette love, people talked up his measurables so much but seemed to ignore that he was a horrific route runner with terrible hands and had never produced much at any level of football. Jacobs has significantly more potential, not saying he's going to wind up being a star WR but you never know, Victor Cruz looked decent but nothing to write home about his first preseason, the second preseason he just came out on in a flash and the rest if history as they say. A guy like Jacobs clearly deserves a PS spot.

IIRC they didn't use Jacobs on any KRs which would've liked to see how he'd do, as he was a very good KR at Utah St. But yeah, would like to see him at least make the PS.

People love measurables--especially big receivers that can run. Al Davis was once one of the brightest minds in the league and even he became obsessed with "height-weight-speed".
I'm with you on Jacobs. He's absolutely worth a PS spot. I just don't see an opportunity for him on the 53-man this year due to the numbers game.

You a Utah State alum or just watched Jacobs there because you'd seen him in HS?
I'm a big fan of Chuckie Keeton. I know Phoenix is too.
