100% agree. Gray has some potential. He's more athletic and doesnt go down as easy. not sure who has the better hands. Celek has peaked and is nothing more than a serviceable backup.

I wonder if we could trade celek to ravens for a late 2015 pick instead of cutting a good player.

Yes, or the Dolphins who just lost Keller for the season..
I actually think okoye needs to be active for game 4 and just leave him in and learn by playing against guys who are clearly better then him
Cutting him early will not help him develope any

I like Gray, too. If he replaces Celek, I'd like Celek to go to PS (IF possible) and not just cut/released...

No Moore? Can't imagine he doesn't make it.
I think he's improved from his time spent in Miami... would like to see more of him in next two exhibition games, however.

Also, I'd like to see more of D. Morris in next two games... it's either him or Cooper that have a chance (as DB spot, aside from the obvious) to make 53.

We have a couple of guys on the bubble that could be trade worthy. I heard Oakland failed to sign Lechler; they might have some interest in Schmidt. His 62 yard punt out of the end one was impressive.

They got Kluwe and a rookie who is reportedly looking really good in camp.

Maybe not the Raiders, but in 2 games I'm impressed with the guys punts kickoffs and the way he ran down Trindon Holliday. I know Baalke could get something for this guy.

We have 83 players actually on Active 90 man. Of those, we have Culliver, Willis, Hunter, Williams, and Patton either yet to play, or unable to play.

I dont see Willis playing in any preseason game, so realistically we will have between 68-71 healthy to play for the last game. I imagine 4th game, no starters play, only backups, so we need to keep at least 6 backup OL, in case of an injury.

Lets look at numbers, at who wouldn't play against SD.

QB kaepernick
RB Gore, Hunter
WR Boldin
TE Davis
OL Goodwin, Staley, Davis, Boone, Iupati
DL Justin, McDonald, Ian, Dorsey
OLB Brooks, Aldon
CB Rogers, Brown
SS Whitner

Of course, Jennings, Lee and Dawson would have to play, I think we may stick with Schmidt till final cuts, to be safe. Maybe also McDermott, though I can see him cut on the 27th. TE McDonald may not play to be safe.

I would consider these guys locked in for 75 man

QB Kaep, McCoy, Tolzien, Daniels
RB Gore, Hunter, James, Dixon
FB Miller
WR Boldin, Moore, Williams, AJ, Patton, Collie, Hall
TE Davis, McDonald, Celek, Gray
C Goodwin, Kilgore
OG Boone, Iupati, Looney, Snyder
OT Staley, Davis, Wiggins, Bykowski
DE Smith, McDonald, Dobbs, Tukuafu
NT Ian, Dorsey
OLB Ahmad, Aldon, Haralson, Lemonier, Skuta, C.Johnson
ILB Willis, Bowman, Wilhoite, Moody
CB Rogers, Brown, Nnamdi, Cox, Brock, Morris, Cooper, Culliver(IR likely at final cuts)
S Reid, Whitner, Spillman, Dahl, Robinson
ST Jennings, Lee, Dawson
PUP Manningham, Crabtree
NFI Marquardt, Carradine, Dial, Wright, Lattimore

That is a total of 69 spots locked in. I don't see a CB cut, especially if Brown, Rogers sit game 4, and maybe Nnamdi if he has won a spot.

That leaves the following players up for cuts.

RB Hampton, Harper
FB Schepler
WR Hawkins, Jacobs, Osgood, Lockette
OL Omamaeh, Netter, Tribue
DE Jerod-Eddie, Okoye
NT Divens, Purcell
ILB Johnson, Stupar
K/P Schmidt
S McBath, Ventrone, Thomas
LS McDermott

Thats 21 players, plus the 69 locks equals the 90 man roster.

Do we keep both specialists? Doubt it, since Jennings is more than capable of going for the game. Schmidt I would keep, keeps Lee and Dawson's legs fresh.

If it was me, I would cut the following.

RB Harper
FB Schepler
WR Hawkins
WR Jacobs
OL Omameh
OL Tribue
OL Netter
NT Purcell
ILB Johnson
ILB Stupar
S Ventrone
S Thomas
S McBath
LS McDermott

I cut the FB, because I think Gray could play FB in game 4 if needed.

The last spot is between, Schmidt, and either Osgood or Lockette. I think keeping Divens allows Dorsey and Ian to sit game 4.

My guys are in bold. Ventrone hasn't been healthy to show anything. Okoye would go but he will be kept around for PS. Omameh should not be allowed to play professional football. Worst NFL player I have seen in years. Rudy Ruettiger could beat this schmuck off the edge even now. I wouldn't cut Jacobs just yet. He's show some ability.

Absolutlely!

With the way WRs are looking, Niners could be doing a lot of punting and field goal attempts.......

I agree, and would also be a good back up in case of injury. But it will be a numbers game so he might MIGHT be the odd man out.

Anquan Boldin
Austin Collie
Kyle Williams
Quinton Patton
AJ Jenkins
Mario Manningham

And if they do keep seven, I'd like it to be either Marlon Moore, Chad Hall or Kasim Osgood. Man that's a tough decision to make would love to keep all 3.

You just described Lockette.
I feel like Lockette HAS to make the team. Hes been showing promise for a while, and our WR corps is so depleted. We can afford to lose any potential there.

First cut needs to be Obama, I mean Omameh

I think we should move him to SS since that's the webzone's answer for anyone who doesnt pan out anywhere else
