if he does not play this week it is not tragic. we have won four in a row without him vs teams better than the one we play sunday. no need to rush him there. On the other hand it would make sense to give him a few reps, treat it like its a pre season game for him and let him shake off some rust

what is so sad about it? we have gotten along pretty well so far and whatever these guys can do is gravy. gordon is not worth a first or second round pick and i will be really happy when he does get traded so this silly blather about him can go away. some posters have him outfitted in a niner uniform and they will be the only ones who are really pissed when he ends up not coming here.

If manningham and crabs don't come back right, I hate to look back at 2011 when we couldn't complete a pass to anyone not named Vernon Davis

Boldin is still a factor

I agree, when we get some receivers back, his double teams will prove invaluable. The last thing anyone wants is this guy getting into a groove.

Tell me if you feel the same way come playoff time if the WR's still can't get open or stretch the field. I don't feel that its "gravy" what either of these guys can do, I think its absolutley imperative for these guys to come back and contribute big time in order for this team to get to the SB. And until I see it, I am not too comfortable that a guy coming off a full Achilles tear and a guy that blew all of his knee ligaments out can do that.
And Gordon is def worth a 2nd rounder, problems and all. You will not find a better talent with that pick, and coupled with his ridiculously cheap rookie contract and ability to stretch the field its a no brainer.

If he's moving great, I say activate him and have him play maybe 10-15 snaps on Sunday against the Jags. Not necessarily play him to be the primary receiver(seriously don't need him for that this Sunday) but to get him back into feeling the game speed and running routes against defenders. Maybe just on 3 WR sets and maybe he'll catch a ball or two. I mean lets face it, Gore/Hunter will probably touch the ball most of the game anyway.

I think some people are forgetting that one more mistake and Gordon is out for an entire season. Do people really think it's a good idea to spend a high pick on a player they could lose for an entire season right off the bat if he happens to get too drunk on a night off or take the wrong pill? The Niners FO is a lot more careful than that and I approve.

I don't disagree, but I am just leery of thinking that the WR problems will be solved by 2 WR's coming back from devestating injuries. I still think this team could win the SB as currently constructed, but I worry this issue will bite them in the ass come playoff time. I think that another positive of making a trade for Gordon is that with Crabtree entering FA, you could possibly have his replacement for a fraction of the cost.

With the problems they've had with Aldon Smith, I'd be astonished if they took a chance on Gordon. Again, one mistake and he's gone for a year. Come on people. This isn't Madden. Something like that has consequences not just for the team playing, but for the cap and the draft.

I agree, maybe we offered LMJ and a 3rd, but a 2nd is too steep. At that point we might as well pick a WR without off-field issues who will be cheaper.
