It could very well be VD as a #2. He can stay on the outside. Just run a lot of post, go, and corner routes, then let Boldin, and the slot WR which we seem to have a lot of slot size guys, do their thing. Just mostly clearing out route for VD. But if the defense don't honor that, VD has the size and speed to burn them too.

Jenkins is only in year two so he will get more time. Lockette, Moore are bubble guys in my opinion come week 4 of preseason. A lot depends on when Manningham comes back.
So...
Boldin
Williams
Collie
Moore
Jenkins
Patton
Manningham*
I think this is pretty close what to expect.
It's too bad Lockette may not make the roster because of Jenkins.

I doubt it. If lockette doesnt make the roster it will be because he's not performing. the FO will not cut a performing player for a bench player because of 1.7m of the salary cap

There's a bunch of guys I really can't say I give a damn about. Hall, Lockette, Moore, Hawkins, can't say I care whether or not any of them make the roster, they are all replaceable guys, don't see any of them becoming a gamebreaking type player at any point.

I think I would add Collie to that group personally as well, if he replaces anyone it would be KW just like Hall, All three of them have pretty much the same skill sets, size, speed etc. Just my opinion.

Collie's kind of a throw-away but talent wise, I like him better than all of the others, its just that his health is a major question mark, otherwise he's a stellar route runner and has tremendous hands, will catch anything thrown in his general vicinity.

I think Moore is getting a little overlooked in terms of the zone rating system. Not sure whether he had a legitimate shot in Miami, but if he is really attacking the ball like the beat writers have noted, it could really separate him from the mix. With Kaep its not like we need world-beaters at the WR position, we just need WRs that will attack the ball and have a chip on their shoulder. Boldin, Moore, Williams and Collie really isnt that bad of a WR corps with Patton waiting in the wings. A little undersized but with Kaeps accuracy and velocity size really isnt that important till the RZ, and thats what we got VM for.

This! I'm a bit puzzled why some people still don't see him making the team. He started the Broncos game, and left the game with the starters. This tells me the coaches didn't need to see him prove himself in the exhibition game, because he already has in training camp. He may very well start the season as the #2 receiver,

I don't think they are going to keep 7 and the worst of that group gets cut when Manningham comes back.

Actually, Lockette has shown less than Jenkins so far. He just isn't getting the negative buzz that Jenkins is. He won't make the roster because he sucks.

I think it is pretty clear now who will be kept on the 53 man roster:
Locks:
Boldin - obvious
Williams - Young, experienced, fast, special teams ability
Collie - Only healthy player other than Boldin with proven NFL track record
Patton - Hard working rookie that has been practicing hard and making plays, even with one hand.
Special Teams Ace:
Osgood or Lockette - one of these guys will make the team on special teams ability
Bubble:
Jenkins or Moore - one of these guys will make the team as our 6th WR and have a chance to prove themselves until Manningham is healthy
PUP:
Manningham - when he comes back 100%, a bubble player will probably be cut. In the event that Jenkins has established himself by the time Manningham is healthy, Collie or Williams will probably be cut instead.
IR:
Crabtree - don't think he's coming back this season
Locks:
Boldin - obvious
Williams - Young, experienced, fast, special teams ability
Collie - Only healthy player other than Boldin with proven NFL track record
Patton - Hard working rookie that has been practicing hard and making plays, even with one hand.

Moore is more of a lock than Collie, but both will be on the roster. Moore has been the best receiver outside of Boldin all training camp, he aint goin nowhere.
