Hunter is the second best back we have and Frank didn't have break away speed when he was a rookie. You do not have to be a 4.4 40 kinda runner to be a great back, you just have to be good at getting into the second level and wreaking a little havoc.

But with that 2 back set, I agree, there is no way the ILBs will know what he heck is going to happen...hence, advantage 9ers. If JH doesn't start using LMJ in backfield passes I will break down and write him a letter. Just the thot of it basically gives vance or Vernon a clear shot completion...unless LMJ gets a pass and then....lookout. Once he blasts thru rt tackle, then the LBs will be putty, in that one set can work 3 different ways and they can't cheat. Please, Lord, let roman see this.
The easiest, quickest pass (see Flacco in the Superbowl x3) is the under 3 second pass right down the middle of the field to the TE/Slot WR (e.g. Boldin). It's almost impossible to defend even with an ILB underneath and a S over-the-top like we had (Bowman/Willis + Whitner).
BTW: I'll co-sign that letter with you! I have a feeling we may want to address it directly to Mangini.

Dunno, are you or anyone else in your immediate family seahawk fans? They seem to like tiny things...

not sure if lmj is our sproles...he hasn't proven he can catch the ball but hunter is a beast. hunter is definitely the superior rb, lmj is a nice weapon to use on special teams if he can pick up punt returning and occassionaly as a change of pace

He's above average in blitz pick up as well. I think together, if he gets back to form, running he and Gore out of the Q formation, defenses will have no idea 1) who will get the handoff and 2) where the runner will go (inside or outside the tackles). That extra step starting in shot gun gives them more vision, get to full speed and time for the OL to wall-off defenders. Add James to this mix as well and this could be a VERY good 3-headed monster.
on point, hunter is a very good back. anyone who's stating james is more talented/better aren't watching
hunter runs between the tackles and has amazing short area quickness and good vision and and finishes his runs w/ power
james lacks all these things, james i hope is a great weapon on special teams for us

While I agree Hunter>LMJ, I think youre selling LMJ a lil short. He runs with surprising power for a RB his size and sees the field pretty well.
I dont remember the exact stat but I remember watching one game right before he got injured where they mentioned hunter only lost yardage on a run twice during the entire season while also being in the top 5 in YPC, he rarely goes backwards... that's pretty impressive.

Ball security is a question mark too. Remember he had that fumble in the SB, and fumbled just recently in preseason. Hunter's role I think in this trio is the solidified backup, reliable/shifty/tough back.

With our suspect receiving corps, Hunter is going to convert to a full-time WR
