I'm disappointed that crabtree is hurt but excited to see what the others can do. If we sign another declining veteran we might not unlock this young potential. I think as long as our OL holds up the run game and pass game will flourish. Also we will probably use one of the 6 top 100 picks ( hopefully) on a WR this just forces us to see what we have

I think they almost have to make a play for a free agent receiver like Lloyd. Regardless of your confidence level in Williams or Manningham, you can't ignore the fact that neither of them are going to be ready to start the season. And even after they come back, who knows if they'll make it make back to full strength right away?
Effectively, the 49ers have three locks to make the roster at WR: Boldin, Jenkins and Patton. You can't go into the season with those guys as your top 3 receivers... that's just crazy.
Here's my guess: someone restructures their contract and we sign Lloyd to a one-year deal. Or sign him to a deal and then cut him after one year.

According to Maiocco,
Williams should be ready to go by training camp and Manningham should be ready to go by the start of the season.

Gentlemen, I don't want to say we're f**ked, but we're pretty f**ked.
Let's go, AJ!
crabs will be back around week 12. we still have VD, Manningham, Williams and we drafted a huge TE with speed, patton, lockette looks excellent and jenkins should be good to go. plus boldin. were still in good shape, crabs will be back before the playoffs start
I'm not counting on him coming back unless our WRs really can't step it up. I'm not saying we'll suck, but I think our SB aspirations took a hit. Crabs was not only Kaep's go to target, he was clutch.
im not saying its a little thing but anyone could step up and tear it up with kaep i think. im lookin forward to seeing lockette and AJ get a shot. i think we have something in lockette and kaep seems to like him as well. boldin will mentor the young receivers and crabs will be back, if hes back at week 12 hes got a month to shake off the rust before the playoffs start. it wont be so bad. VD should get more balls coming his way as well

One thing to note is that teams are not stagnant, but rather dynamic entities that evolve over the course of a season. If this injury had to happen, now is the time, so the young guys can get their reps with extra hunger, knowing that a starting spot has opened. There are going to be bumps, but I expect to discover new contributers in all of this

According to Harbaugh, it was a full tear and they expect Crabtree to be back by the end of the season

Look it's a huge loss but there's no need to get desperate. Maybe talk with Brandon Lloyd, see if he'll come here and fight for a roster spot.
We're just gonna have to put our faith that one of our guys step up. Yeah they all have question marks but they all have the talent to be good starters. All of them.

hope your right, seattle is real good too, and crabs is a legit game changer.
