TO had 60 receptions for 936 yards and 8 TD's that year. JJ Stokes had 58 receptions for 733 yards and 4 TD's. Young threw for over 3000 yards that year. Kaepernick will find 2 or 3 receivers plus V. Davis in this group who can put those kinds of numbers up.
Yeah but our division doesn't suck like it did in 1997

That team beat the Cowboys, the Eagles in Philly and the Broncos. It went on to beat the Vikings in the playoffs before losing to a hot Farvre-led Packers team. I wouldn't diminish that team's accomplishments. But you're right that the NFC West wasn't very good that year. Still, my point is that Young found over 3000 receiving yards without his number one receiver playing.

I think we see if these guys can fill the void before we look elsewhere. We still have Manningham and Williams (health permitting) to fall back on as serviceable number 2s.
I don't think it would hurt to kick the tires on Washington.........he, Williams and Manningham all have expiring contracts at the end of this year anyways, he's a productive, experienced veteran and a quality deep threat that would make for a nice #2 alongside Boldin.

Doctors believed last night that Michael Crabtree's torn Achilles would sideline him six months and recommended surgery asap.

This. He's someone that's always been more of an athlete than a receiver. I'm far more sold on Patton and Jenkins than Lockette who got dumped by a team that desperately needed wide receivers. People like him because he's tall and fast but if those are the only criteria for a WR, I can take you down to the local community college track and find you a couple guys who are just as tall and just as fast, if not faster.
He's still a sloppy route runner, has never shown great hands and after one magical offseason in Atlanta, all of the sudden he's a quantity to be depended on? I think not.

Six months would put him back around the end of November, giving him all of December to get ready for playoffs. I hope.
