GUESS THE 53!!

After Game 3, my new 53-man roster:

QB- Kap/Wallace/Daniels
RB- Gore/Hunter/James/Dixon
FB- Miller
WR- Boldin/Williams/Moore/Patton/Baldwin
TE- Davis/McDonald/Celek/Gray
C- Goodwin/Kilgore
OG- Iupati/Boone/Looney/Snyder
OT- Staley/Davis

Offense- 25

DE- Smith/McDonald/Tukuafu/Jerod-Eddie/Dobbs*
NT- Williams/Dorsey
OLB- Smith/Brooks/Haralson/Lemonier/Skuta
ILB- Willis/Bowman/Wilhoite/Moody
CB- Rogers/Brown/Nnamdi/Cox/Brock
S- Reid/Whitner/Dahl/Spillman/Robinson

Defense- 26(Dobbs is on suspended list, that's why 26)

PK- Dawson
P- Lee
LS- Jennings

Inactive week 1- Daniels, Gray, Looney, Jerod-Eddie, Robinson, Moody, Baldwin

PUP- Manningham, Crabtree
NFI- Carradine, Dial, Marquardt, Wright, Lattimore
IR- Fleming, Culliver, Carswell, Debniak

Replacments when Mario, Crabs, Carradine, and possible Wright come back.

Replace Mario for Gray or Celek(Whoever doesn't show more upside)
Replace Tank for Tukuafu or Dobbs (Depends who they like more, but Carradine would be my 5th DL on game days, so I dont see a active spot for Dobbs or Tukuafu when Tank is back)
Replace Crabs with either T.Robinson or the other DL(Whoever doesn't show any potential, but might be stopped to go 5 deep only at DL)
^^i would dump the 4th TE and add a 6th WR

Yeah Gray or Celek shouldn't be on there.

Exactly the same 53-man I'd go with at this point. Do you have Dial replacing Jerod-Eddie when he's ready to go?
I missed watch the Preseason for two games before. Finally, I watched the 49ers VS Viking today. ... Patton is doin good job for catch that TD! He is awesome for rookie! ..... I dislike watch a guy #31 "Whitner" again because he don't read the offense scores and bad plays! I wanted Whitner must bend and let him can't plays for us! I saw # 27 was pretty good defense and good coverage better than #31"Whitner"!.. Who is #45 a guy that white guy? He is huge his body and very thick his bone and good weight cuz he seem too strong a guy! Hope, I will watch the 49ers vs Chargers on Thursday night.. Let's go 49ers!
I think AB nailed it, though I might drop Jerod-Eddie for Morris though Morris is almost certainly going to make the PS.

Oh, and supposedly McCoy is officially #2, not Wallace.

Gray has more potential than Collie so 4TE makes sense over 6WR.

I agree 99% with what you've got. Here are the only differences:

* I'd remove the 4th TE, add another DB or WR.
* Cut Robinson (who is PS eligible). Also could add another DB or WR after this.

Not what I think it should be but what I would do:

QB (3): Kaepernick, McCoy or Wallace, Daniels (Wallace should get a lot of playing time 4, won't know until then)
RB (4): Gore, Hunter, James, Dixon
FB (1): Miller
TE (3): Davis, McDonald, Gray
WR (6): Boldin, Williams, Moore, Patton, Baldwin, Collie (WR 2-5 that are active will all get reps though, wont be same #2 every play)
OL (8): Staley, Iupati, Goodwin, Boone, Davis, Kilgore, Snyder, Looney

DL (6): Smith, McDonald, Williams, Dorsey, Dobbs, Tukuafu
ILB (4): Willis, Bowman, Wilhoite, Moody
OLB (5): Smith, Brooks, Haralson, Lemonier, Skuta
CB (6): Rogers, Brown, Asomugha, Cox, Brock, Morris or Cooper (like their potential over Robinson/Thomas)
S (4): Whitner, Reid, Dahl, Spillman
ST (3): Dawson, Lee, Jennings

Hard to believe, but if this was the case, we'd have 19 out of 53 players that weren't on the team last year. That's 36% of the roster. Granted that's not all starters, but as far as the locker room is concerned, that's a chunk. It gets better as Mario and Crabtree come back, but that will be a while.

We had to let guys like Goldson, Walker, Sopoaga, RJF go for money reasons. Grant is suspended for 4 games so no reason to bring him back. Gooden retired. Think we did well at 3 and 4 ILB and saved money. Same with Ian and Dorsey... saved a lot of money and should get equal or better play. WR's think we had to move on from Moss and Ginn. Leonard Davis was done, had to move on. Three is going to be turnover every year, new rookies come in, free agents leave for more money, some guys retire. I think we did a good job replacing guys and saving a lot of money in the process. We need to be thinking about saving for extending our future (Kap, Aldon, Iupati, possibly Hunter, Crabtree, Miller, Culliver). Expect a lot of turnover next year as well.

Expect a lot of these FA's gone: McCoy, Tolzien, Tukuafu, Dobbs, Manningham, McBath, Hall, Collie, Wright, Osgood, Dixon, Whitner, Cam Johnson, Goodwin, Haralson K. Williams, Moore, Cox, Brock, Asomugha, Dawson, Boldin

That's pretty average roster turnover in the NFL. Not nearly as extreme as you think.

Out of our 22 starters from last year, we return 19 of them. We have way more continuity than most teams in that regard.

I saw that today that he is #2 QB. Not sure its true, or smoke screen. But would mean Wallace is cut, no way we should chance losing Daniels to waivers.

Of those FAs to be, I say the only ones worth keeping are, Manningham, Maybe Wright(depended on if he plays in 2013), C.Johnson(EFA, develop more, maybe makes it next yr due to no Haralson), Williams, Moore, Cox(RFA), Nnamdi, Dawson, and Boldin.

Whitner and Goodwin can leave, same with Haralson.
