Lawrence Okoye Thread of Epic Awesomeness

Okoye's quickest path to making the team might be as the short yardage FB, replacing Dixon.

Hasn't Dobbs progressed a lot every season?

Nigerian nightmare???

He's not the son of Christian Okoye. Lawrence was born in England to Nigerian parents in 1991 when Christian was playing for the Chiefs.
I hope the Barrows or Maiocco find out what kind of plan Tomsula or Harbaugh put Okoye on. How are they going to teach football 101 to this guy? For instance, do they start off teaching him some sort of niche like short yardage defense?

is right. That dude sounds DRIVEN.

Was that his 4.7 40?
He appears like he's just doing a light jog.
Wow, huge potential. Tomsula has a lot to work with.

It kinda looks like he was floating.

Not really, the only reason he made the team last year was by playing as a backup TE,FB, and DL. We need backups that are actually good at those positions. He also got a DWI and was hurt last year. When he did get to play, he wasn't impressive. We can do much better than Dobbs!

and yeah, he wasn't anything special as a rugby player, but they're different games - you don't get breaks in rugby, so there aren't many 300 pounders because they don't have the endurance. Linemen in general would not be good at rugby, because you need to be able to move in space (some DE's like JPP would be successful though). It's bizarre to me that this guy played wing given he's not very fast - I would expect him to have played forward, but maybe he's afraid of contact which would be a major concern.

rugby wingers are usually fast but you sometimes see big guys out there like Lomu for NZ, if you can run over people it's just as good as going around.

Lomu was a freak, he ran the 100m in ~10.8 seconds.

Watch the Okoye interview with Jamal Anderson. He specifically mentions running a 10.9 100 meters at age 18 at the height of his rugby career before bulking up and training for discus.
I guarantee Okoye makes the team. DE/TE/FB, something will stick early.

Yeah, we're creative enough to find a place for him. He is a RARE athlete with a good head on his shoulders.

Harbaugh will find a place for his talent.

I'd say practice squad unless he just blows up in training camp
Okoye will be a great story line to follow throughout TC.

Lattimore and Okoye, 49ers win the draft AND the storylines!

Jesus! Dude has a 6-pack at 300+ pounds, if he can dedicate himself to learning technique he can be a stud... cant wait to see him with pads on.

That's the thing you point out in the picture?

How about the fact that the guy is almost as tall as a freaking clock tower?!
