This. Tank was THE guy I wanted at that spot, and that was with full knowledge that he might sit the entire year.
Top 15 talent in the 2nd round, I'll take it.
if a 1st round selection can be used on willis mcgahee, i dont have a problem with a 2nd round pick on tank carradine.

Good decision. No need to rush him.

As for "Tank", we needed IMPACT players like Aldon, Cully, Kap, Kendall. They did score with Reid but BLEW CHUNKS in the whole 12' DRAFT!! Im frusterated as HELL waiting to see this TANK dude. And if he is INJURED then IR him and sign a decent veteran to help with depth right??
He's not a project, he was injured. He was a top 5-10 pick before that. He may not have seen much of the field even if he was healthy. I have a feeling many will be eating their words regarding Cornelius.

We turned the first 2nd round pick from the Alex Smith trade, plus our own 2013 3rd rounder, into Tank Carradine, Corey Lemonier, and a 2014 3rd round pick from the Titans.
Not too shabby. There's not enough room for every draft pick, and there's not enough active roster spots for every player who makes the team. We'll see a 100% Tank next year, and its gonna be awesome.

Thank you! Before the draft we'd lost Goldson, RJF and Soap and extended Williams and signed Dorsey. So going in we knew we needed an impact FS and fresh meat for the DL. Had Crabtree been injured on April 21 instead of May 21 the priorities would have been different. Possibly CB would have been another area where we COULD have gotten an impact player that would contribute this year. But other than that there weren't a lot of holes to plug in an IMPACT player. We needed an IMMEDIATE IMPACT at FS and that's what we got.
I think this time NEXT YEAR this draft class is going to be looking damn good . . . and that's OK.

The way I see it, the 49ers have essentially three first round picks in 2014 lol. Marcus Lattimore, Tank Carradine, and whoever we end up drafting. That will be some serious talent to contend with in 2014.

I think Baalke is SOOOO overrated it aint even funny. He did good in the 11' draft with Aldon,Kap and Cully & Kendall. He bombed bombed bombed the 12' Draft (it chapped my arss last night watching Alshon Jeffrey tear the Cowgirls up and Ballke passed him up for AJJ). And in 13' he did good with Reid, Flopped with Tank and Ronald Macdonald. Did okay with Lemon, Patton hasn't shown squat yet even before he got hurt. I LIKED the Lattimore compensatory pick for the future. But there are just as many misses as hits in those 4 drafts the last 4 years with Baalke.

So, you have already decided the fate of this years draft ... nice crystal ball you have. A large chunk of this drafts story is yet to be written. And anyone can cherry pick years later as to who should have been picked. It is easy to do after the fact.

If he turns out to be an all pro player they made the right call. Many said he was a top 5 pick till he was hurt. If he comes out and suck it up then they messed up. I'm not sure if I would have draft him at pick 40. not when they really could have used a WR for this year. then I would not have draft 2 players for sure that are going to sit out they year. Take a chance on one but not two. I would have like to see them draft Terrance Williams, and he went in the third. I don't know only time will tell. If tank was all world he would be playing now or he is still really hurt which worries me because it has been a year and his knee is still messed up to where they need to IR him. maybe it is nothing. Maybe they just wanted an extra O lineman. maybe it is something. I don't know.

We still need to draft 2 DL in my opinion. One for insurance. One for the future to potentially replace Justin Smith.

I didn't cherry pick Alshon Jeffrey, I actually had him penciled in in my 49er mock draft back in 12' on another forum. I thought he was a perfect fit for the 49ers with his big frame similar to Crabs. When the pick was in, I was BEWILDERED that it was AJJ, and even Chris Berman on ESPN had that PUZZLED look on his face. So did Rich Eisen on NFL Network.

there were six WR's taken before Jeffrey. 6. Blackmon, Floyd, Wright, Jenkins, Quick, Hill. Murderer's Row! Lol. Jeffrey is on a tear but lets not act like Baalke is the one GM who took a s**t WR before Jeffrey was selected, or that Jeffrey was a slam-dunk prospect coming out.
and look at the rest of the Bears 2012 draft class. they hit on one out of 7. whoop de doo.

Sad to think that Carradine produced as much his 1st year as Jenkins did, especially considering he was only drafted 10 spots lower than Jenkins. But until he plays next year 49er fans will call him the 2nd coming of Justin Smith and non-9er fans will call him a bust.

Draft gurus conveniently ignore that.
