Tank had three QB sacks late last season. His first sack (Wussell Wilson) was on a busted screen pass where the guard let him go unblocked. Tank showed good quickness to get to the QB, but didn't have to work hard in terms of beating the Olineman across from him.
His second sack (Wussell) was a coverage sack where Tank was initially blocked well. Wussell couldn't find an open target downfield and was eventually sacked after holding onto the ball for too long a time. Good motor and pass rush lane discipline in containing RW in the pocket
This was his most impressive of the three sacks (week 17).
Base 3-4. Moody will blitz the A gap between C and LG. At the snap, Purcell will sidestep to his left in an attempt to get the C moving right (from C's point of view). Tank will take a small step to his right to try to get the LG to move in that direction, opening up a lane for Moody. We'll call Tank playing 2-tech with outside shade - so he's over the Guard.
Tank has a nice wide base. Don't want to be too wide because then lateral movement suffers, but never want to be too tall (narrow).
This is Tank applying a nice punch to the chest of the LG. Notice in the GIF how much the punch jars the Guard backwards.
Tank then displays agility and power to attack the LG's outside shoulder and get up field.
This is the type of pass rush move that Tank can refine to rush the QB from an interior position versus Guards. Dockett excels at these types of pass rush moves that combine good strength with a lot of agility, and I think Tank can learn the most from Dockett as far as pass rushing skills. Much more so than Justin who uses pure power to push the pocket.

Now we don't have Fangio to hold him back for whatever reasons - I feel Tank will be a force.

I think tank will bust out this year, I think last year he still was testing himself and had to psychologically get comfortable. At the end of the year, once he felt the groove, he started to look good So, I expect bigger things.

I don't think that there is a better guy for Tank to learn from than Dockett. He can mold his game after Dockett's and have a pretty good career out of it.

Which is why Culliver and Cox may end up looking ordinary with their new team, Like all those DBs that have left us.

Our secondary always benefited from the pressure Justin and others applied.
Not this past year, our pass rush was average at best

The middle two I agree, I will say that the jury is still out for Tank, however I believe at the end of the season the light came on and he got psychologically over his injury that he began to click at the end of the season. Taylor Mays, I really don't hold that against Baalke, because Singletary really wanted that one and pushed angrily for that one. the same man who thought P Willis wasn't worth the pick.
LMJ, people thought he would succeed, a lot of people who are dissing the pick, if we had a time machine, I bet would show that they liked the pick and being two faced about it. I myself was surprised since we had hunter, but other wise that he is talented and it was because we would lose Hunter to free agency.
What is good about Baalke is that he really listen to what his coaches say. The TE pick, Belldozer, the coaches liked him and added to Baalke that they feel they could make Bell also an emergency QB. The Vance pick they should have moved up to get Harbaughs old student, then again no one is privy to whether Harbaugh really wanted him. People assume he would, being that he is a former player, but remember Baldwin.
Although Miller is in trouble, the fact that we took a DE and turned him into a top FB, makes me feel that turning Bell into a top TE should be easier since he at least has some experience and being a former QB, knowing how to read is not going to be a problem, what he needs to work on is his receiving techniques.

LMJ and Mays are epic fails. And McDonald is looking that way also.

Mays - Singletary (enough said)
LMJ - Surprise poor run. Although he was a luxury pick behind Hunter I think we all thought he'd be great. In fact, if we drafted him this year, under this coaching regime, he might do pretty well (3rd down back + receiver). Bummer
Vance - HaRoman (enough said). Will be interesting to see if and how we use him now (hope his back isn't wrecked from being asked to block 24-7)
Tank - Looks like an excellent pick. This is his "leap year" and I hope we don't slow down his momentum!

Mays was real bad. Both Sing and Baalke blew that one. He's the GM so he's gotta share the load on that blunder. It was just a really really bad pick.
LMJ isn't good IMO. We gave em some shots even as a returner and as a running back. He just either didn't fit in our system or he flat out sucked. I think its a mix of both. JH probably had somthing to do with this pick so they both have to share the load.
I thought we gave Vance some chances and was underwhelming. He's a good blocker thought so there is that.
Tank shows some promise and flashes. I see him starting at DE for us this year from day one and playing well.

If Justin retires Tank should be starter opposite of Dockett with Dorsey as the first guy off the bench (unless he starts over Williams at NT) with Armstead and maybe TJE rotating in.

These picks are just terrible. The only one with any hope is Tank, but as a 2nd round pick with virtually no contribution to date, its a bad pick. I am the biggest Vance hater on this site 100%. He looks terrible on the field. Dropped balls, fumbles, he just isnt good. i'd rather put another O-lineman in to block and cut him.
