Feels like the Parys trade to NO was similar to what Baalke did for Alex Smith. I think he prefers to do a solid for good teammates who are veterans and tries to send them to good situations instead of shopping for the highest bidder.
As for the 7th rounders, those seem to be very useful for trading up.

I can easily see that Baalke and company may be wanting to stack late picks for more gambles. Players that have higher ceilings with issues (injuries/attitude/off field problems). With the solid structure and team dynamics now in place, the organization could believe this is the best strategy to continue the high level of talent on the team while maintaining a good budget.

Right NOW?
Whitner knows the defense. He has to mentor our young safety. It would be nucking futs to trade him right now.

Hell no. Diva IMO. And we would need to pay him top 10 WR money, why not just extend Crabs then.

So we're going to trade Whitner and start who at SS? Despite being the Webzone's whipping boy since last season, Donte Whitner is playing decent this season. He will play out his contract with the 49ers, sign a deal with another team, and net us a comp pick for 2015 .

exactly. What compensation would we get? He is a FA to be, can't be more than a 5th-7th. Rather let him play out like you said, and get a comp pick in 2015, probably same range.

Why trade Whitner! He actually is performing well through two games and is a key price for us to stop the run
