Exactly! I've been saying this for some time now. Madden has infected the way fans view the game and especially the off-season.

It cost us 6 million dollars. And his situation was unique. He was going to be released and the ravens took what they could get for him. This isn't career mode bro.

Holmes, Nicks, Cruz. All 3 your looking at $6m+ on very low end and at the and we'd be talking Alex Smith to Kansas City compensation at minimum for all but Holmes who may be a fire sale for a 3rd and late round 2015. Crabtree's biggest asset was moving the chains and Boldin should be able to be that guy. Davis can still play at his 2011 level and in sure one of the younger guys or Manningham can fill the #2 spot. They just have to play better than Randy Moss last year shouldn't be too hard.

Not a chance on any one of those. I'm starting to believe the 49ers stand pat and don't sign or bring anyone in, they've got plenty of talent on the roster as is. Might as well let the young guys play and go after it.
1-Boldin
2-Jenkins
3-Patton
4-Williams
5-Manningham
6-Lockette/Moore/Hall...who cares.
If they did bring someone in, I'd like to see Nate Washington from Tennessee who very well may be cut by June 1st. A smart, quality veteran, a good deep threat, someone very experienced, pretty similar to Jenkins, would be able to stretch the field, has played very well recently for the Titans.

Agree w/Phoenix.
We stay pat and play our own hand.
There are always surprise cuts by other teams. We have a solid coaching staff that can game plan and improve w/the talent we have.
I'm thinking a lot more involvement of VDavis, he was underused last season and I feel we haven't touched his potential.

This. When people ask who the 49ers #2 WR will be, VD will be the #2 WR. He's been extremely underutilized, they need to draw up better gameplans to get him more involved as a receiver. If you look at New England, they've been trolling the NFL for a long time with a midget in Welker and a bunch of mediocre receivers, depending heavily on their TE's. If the 49ers utilize VD more, as well as McDonald, they'll be fine.

I don't buy into that. Madden has nothing to do with it. If we can't pass the ball we won't be able to run. We have two wr's coming off injury and a bunch of unproven ones.
Boldin and Vernon are all we have going into the season.
