Hate this guy's game. an absolute choker. he was wide open again and a perfect throw and dipstick slips & slides. total clown and disappointing 2nd rounder so far. I expected so much more from this draft class. Only Eric Reid has done a dam thing.

I miss delanie, even with his stupid drops he would at least make plays an make defenses account for him and on top of that he won't trip over himself

LOL. You guys are too hard on him. He blocks outstanding. He was a monster blocking tonight. Did you miss all those plays? Probably don't even notice. Just wait for pass plays like most fans. Ok so what he tripped. I've seen other players do that. So what. This is a learning year for him. I remember Crabtree as a rookie dropping the ball and Rice as a rookie was dropping passes all over the field. I think he will get it. Besides I think we picked him mostly to block. 6'4" 270 lbs. wasn't a receiving TE. We picked him to be a big, mean, nasty TE extra blocker in the run game. And he is. He's already good at that. I think his pass receiving will improve. He hasn't had huge amounts of opportunities this season. We throw him like one pass a game. If it's not a perfect result the WZ throws a hissy fit. I could see if you threw him 10 passes and he dropped 8. Then I would worry. But not with this.

I agree with most of your post, but no way we used a second-round pick on a blocking tight end.

If our O wasn't hinging on every single play, I think we'd be a little a more forgiving.
I still think he's a little green and will flourish in due time.

I think he will get better in time. He's a little green and learning. He has made some plays this year. He has made some mistakes too particularly in the passing game.

he sucked tonight
he has to get his number called more often so he can actually make plays.
patton too.

another guy picked because he has a nice body. all projection.
prior to the draft, i watched all i could find on this guy, and it was blatantly clear that he had sub-standard, natural pass-catching ability.
the problem doesn't reside in his gross physical attributes; it's in his fine motor attributes--specifically hand-eye athleticism. he reminds me of a fine size/strength athlete who never played a sport involving a ball that is caught & thrown until high school. looks the part, but his nervous system is not hard-wired for any great athletic moves combining running, acrobatic body control, and ball catching.
as a combo of size/speed athleticism and football playmaking athleticism, he was a 4th round guy. he's similar to vernon in his lack of hand and body control athleticism. an optimistic gm would project him as a jason witten down the road because they are physically similar, but the realist sees the lack of body-control athleticism and hand/eye talent in vance. if the guy is going to drop 20-30% of catchable balls, he will always be an horrendous 2nd rd bust. he's gotta come back next year and cut his drops in half. will power and work can get him there, but he'll never be a great ball catcher--you're born with that.

Good thing this kid is surprisingly effective blocking on the move, or else he'd be completely useless. Funny, because the wrap on him coming out was that his strength is pass catching, but needs time to develop as a blocker. It's been the complete opposite with him. He is very athletic and moves downfield in a hurry, but he literally trips over his own feet.

Then again eagles throw the ball all over the field and ertz has many opportunities.
