Top-10 TE money?
Really???
Correct me if I'm wrong...
Well remember the cap has gone up quite a bit, so he's making 2nd tier money. And players like Bennett, Eifert and Doyle will most likely make more next season.
It's a lot of money, but its probably fair market based on the money that will be spent in FA.

Wtf. 35 million? Are you serious? I know his hands have gotten better but he's kinda injury prone.

"Vance has shown consistent growth throughout his four-year career and his production this season is the result of his dedication and hard work," 49ers general manager Trent Baalke said in a statement. "We believe he has only scratched the surface of what he will be able to accomplish in his career. Vance is a tremendous ambassador for the 49ers, and his passion for helping others provides a wonderful example for this organization. We look forward to his continued contributions to this organization, both on and off the field."

NOOO!! Why, why, why? Who allows Trent to resign anyone and overpay a TE that can't catch. Delanie was 10 times better and had stone hands and you let him walk. Trent should have no access to personnel, contracts, money, and even the supply closet.
Chip is also trash why are these 2 allowed to make decisions on future rosters, especially for half a decade?

Seems pretty fair to me considering the market. McDonald has more upside than Fleener and Pitta who he is right in between in terms of average per year. And we don't really know how the contract is structured at all yet.

Look at the real money (guaranteed) not the fluff $35 million. $16 million is what you need to focus on.
Glad we got him resign...this is a sign that they need to get a qb soon!

Different standards. We didn't a a gazilion dollars in cap space back then.
With that said, it is what it is. I think he has had an ok season. With a better QB, he will be more than worth it.

Side note, with extensions coming through I don't see the regime changing much. Baalke may "resign" or get the boot, but if we were going with a new GM and coach we probably wouldn't be extending players now. Expect Gamble/Kelly with another addition to the front office. Hyde and Ward should be coming up next..
