Celek = Ron Heller (TE - backup in the late 80s)
McDonald = Jamie "Spiderman" Williams when it comes to blocking, John Frank when it comes to route running (facin the ball)
Bell = Brent Jones
I even remember that our long snapper can reall play the TE position if he has to..
First no one is gonna want a deal with VD because it's his contract year. 2nd Ward has played in what 7 games? He isn't just our nickle back but is a backup FS (and might be a very good one) in case Reid get's injured....depth is very very important.
Also why do we need another DL? That's one of our deepest spots on the roster man.
I loved the 3 TE sets SF was throwing out the other night...they helped out a TON as far as blocking goes (which we will need help with) and all of our TEs can catch the ball which makes it even harder for defenses.
A big no to throw out a trade scenario like you're talking about.

I think we may feature Vance a good deal in this game.
Two reasons why.
1. Pittsburgh was pretty awful vs Gronk and the Pats TEs...now I know Gronk is a rare beast but Vance has some ability to do similar things, Kap just needs to do his part.
2. He wasn't featured much in the passing game vs the Vikes which likely means Steelers don't spend much time planning for him to be a threat.

have to admit i never thot of vance at HB, but boy does that ever make a difference, both running game and passing game. Don't anyone tell me we didn't hit the jackpot schidt canning harbaw, and roman and getting Geep, Logan and JT. And there are guys out there that still don't get it that harbaw and his regime was a boat anchor the last 18 mos? Better yet, despite the bithcing and moaning, TRent got us a fantastic coaching staff, JT on down. And geep/logan are the motherlode on O and mangini the motherlode on D.
Harbaw who? romn who? Fangio who? Trent thank you for rebuilding our team and cutting out the dead wood. Wish it coulda been done sooner, but its sure done now.
Any niner that doesn't like this...just isn't a fan.....and the fact it's only one game? So the F what? It's the direction we are headed, and that is straight up, no matter any setbacks.
As for Sunday morning, i stil think it goes in the L column. But having seen the O and D once, i now at least see giving us a shot. Before seeing it all, no.

PFF says he was in for 1 play on a pass block, and received a positive grade for it.

No doubt. I thought that was one of the biggest plays if not the biggest play of the game. If MINN scores on that blocked FG the game could have taken a different tone.

This especially after just one game.

I know! How about that speed? He can't be THAT much slower than Vernon.

Game could've been very different if he didn't hustle down there to make the play. And caught the one target that went his way. Bit surprised we're not using him more in the passing game but Celek did his part so can't complain too much.
He had a STELLAR game in the blocking department plus he caught everything as well. Best blocking TE in the game by far...now he's catching too.
His only blunder was have a 2 v 1 block and his 'butt' missed the inside man...but what epic hustle. In the end, no harm, no foul...no points. They cleaned that right after that play though.

I cringed when I saw Vance catch that pass and start to run and then hurdle over the defenders. I was saying to myself, "Nooo...don't try to hurdle you are going to fumble the damn ball.". Then I saw it was Celek, not Vance, and I was a little relieved.

I think, cc, they may actually be "TIght Backs".
