Yeah and not all of them can make it, final cuts are going to be brutal, you'll see other GM's hovering like vultures to pick up some of the guys that the 49ers cut loose.

btw did people actually give Vance some love for running down the Vikings player on that blocked FG return?
Game could've been very different if he didn't hustle down there to make the play. And caught the one target that went his way. Bit surprised we're not using him more in the passing game but Celek did his part so can't complain too much.

I would give him more credit if he didn't miss the block in the first place that allowed the FG block. I thought he looked pretty good catching the ball; at least runs up field and doesn't curl into the fetal position like VD after making a catch.

Because of his skill set, if only Vance gets more opportunities to get involved and became a more natural pass catcher he could be almost as dangerous as Vernon Davis was. He has some speed (I believe he ran a 4.5 at the combine), but not blazing speed like Vernon Davis. Nonetheless, with his size, he has enough raw tools to be a dangerous weapon. I think it would be hard to not continue to work Celek in since he got hot, but I think McDonald's time will come. All in all, he had a good game.

Honestly, he's a lot faster than I thought. He blew by Celek who was also running at full speed to catch that guy.

Nuns, if you look at the slow mo of the tape, you will note that Vikes overloaded our R side....there were TWO guys for Vance to block, and he took the first quickest one to come thru. It made it look like he whiffed on the guy opposite him, but in reality, we needed to shift one more guy to R side of line. Not sure who missed that, but that was NOT, Vance's fault. He had two guys to block, an impossible task. He took out one, then got up, and had the presence of mind...and SPEED...to run down the ball carrier 40 yds downfield. By rights that should have been a Vikes TD. The missed FG by them then made the FG protection screwup a non issue.
Nope, Vance came out of that exchange looking like a hero...which he was.

I saw we package a deal that would send VDavis and Ward to another team that is looking to trade a DL..
as far as our TE goes, we have players similar to...
Celek = Ron Heller (TE - backup in the late 80s)
McDonald = Jamie "Spiderman" Williams when it comes to blocking, John Frank when it comes to route running (facin the ball)
Bell = Brent Jones
I even remember that our long snapper can reall play the TE position if he has to..

McD was a monster blocking out of the backfield. I am really liking the TE Fullback hybrid. He has lineman size with fullback agility. Add that to two other TE's on the line and that is a lot of beef. Look at the nice gif's on this site of both Hyde TD runs. Vance gets to the 2nd level both times and absolutely negates a linebacker. This is something that will be causing some DC's some sleepless nights. I can't wait until they start loading the box, then we can see some plays down the field again.

Right. It looked like his fault at first, but Vance was left blocking 2 guys. That was a hell of an effort running down the Vikings player. Dude's got some serious wheels.

Ted Robinson was on KNBR and has also stated that it wasn't Vance's fault the FG got blocked, and he deserves credit for racing downfield to stop the TD.
