Great news, provides excellent depth.
Yeah that is great news... and he is worth more then what he is making now but in all he will be making good money for part time work. Dont get me wrong, im glad he is still on our squad, but his money could be used else where to solidify other positions like a starting SS or CB. If we can get starting replacements in those positions and still keep P. Haralson then that is awesome, there is nothing better then having true depth at our front 7 positions which will allow us to keep the pressure on all game and enable us to produce the same numbers the deeper we get into the season.

He was gonna get cut if he didn't except a lower salary.

Cool. I wonder if we're clearing cap space to make a run at someone....

in my opinion we are not going to save up money just to over pay an old safety or a corner who has had two s**t seasons in a row and should be happy with a one year incentive deal. and i believe we are not saving up money to make a deal with the jets who are nothing but a f**king zoo in this revis fiasco

we are clearing cap space to sign rookies, injury emergencies and to make sure we are not in a spot next year or the year after that the ravens are in now

Yeah, aside from a backup QB, backup OT, or a veteran kicker.... I think we are done with FA. We won't be going after any starters in FA this year.

as long as you brought up that kicker thing I remember all of the reports before free agency that we were going to get the giants kicker. well i would assume that would have occured already and i think you are right.. I think they will get a rookie and then bring in a vet journey man for competition and pre season.

Which I'm not mad at. We're already in pretty good shape cap-wise next year.
Restructuring deals early just makes it even better. I know we have a butt-load of (important) players to extend...

I doubt two guys who never played and were lower round picks will unseat a solid veteran in haralson.
I wouldn't bet the farm on that assumption. We just DON'T KNOW what Fleming and Johnson are capable of at the NFL level yet.

Put me down, DOUBLE , with cc. Freeing up cap space by haralson, maybe Justin, and whoever, is terrific. But if we do it and then sign that dang Revis, I will eat my shorts. That would be the most inexcusable, ridiculous waste of money on the planet, for a guy who is DEFINITE medical question, has not played an entire season in last 2 yrs, and gets a boatload of money...exactly the kind of guy trent doesn't like to hire. I think a revis signing would turn this team upside down capwise, and would be against everyting trent has shown us in the past. So NO, we won't bring in an injured revis, and his trash talk, which would screw up our cap for other guys too, and we would be handcuffed just to sign the guy. Hey , he is a great corner, but way overpriced, and the jets are a team in shambles, once again going with an inferior coach, a new GM, and hey, jets are looking for a fool to eat up revis's salary. NO WAY will trent do that. So put me down with cc...no on revis..and no way either.

Exactly. And we know what Haralson brings. A solid run defender, smart player who can occasionally bring pressure.
The other two are mysteries. While i wouldn't bet the farm on it, its a safe bet those guys won't beat out Haralson.
Depending on this year's draft, they might get cut.

Yeah, I think Baalke will draft a more studly OLB for beyond next season. Not sure if they'll decide to keep Haralson post 2013, so always good to have somebody good to plug-in. I'd love to see him draft Chase Thomas...excellent all-around OLB who understands Fangio's defense...

Haralson, Darius Flemming (4th rounder, 2012) and Cam Johnson (7th rounder, 2012) will provide depth at OLB.
This means the FO can concentrate on other positions in the draft, like safety, cornerback, defensive line, wide receiver, tight end, a kicker and maybe offensive line.
On paper, our linebackers look fantastic heading into the 2013 season, with a blend of proven production and upside. Outside linebacker and running back do not need to be addressed early in the draft.
