So does he count 1.3 or 1.7 million against the cap? I'm a little on how incentives get calculated into the cap.

I can see J.Smith extending his deal and reducing this years number and maybe Whitner and or Goodwin agreeing to reduce a little then a couple of signings (or a Revis trade?) happening.
Don't think we are going to make a big splash but this certainly frees up $$ incase we end up keeping our 1st and 2nd round picks.
well we need around $5MM to sign our draft picks and a couple mill to keep in reserves to sign replacements for potential injuries throughout the year. we need to free up another 4-6M I think to get a couple more players. I don't see a huge Revis like splash either but I think Nnamdi, Woodson, Abraham, those types of players are still very possible.

This is a really good signing at a very good price. Quality depth. Experienced vet. Reduced his salary. He can take snaps from our big guns on run downs. I LOVE this move. Remember how good the D was with PH taking some of the early down dirty work snaps to leave Aldon fresh to pass rush. This is a smart play by Baalke.

Also this probably eliminates any chance of us signing a vet pass-rusher such as James Harrison or John Abraham.

Yeah, but only if he's not taking up too much of the cap. We need that for Nnamdi.

I like Haralson (as a back up) good move, Brooks and Smith need to take a few plays off, keep em fresh
I highly doubt C.Johnson or D.Fleming take Haralson's job, I think a rook might take their job though

This is from Matt Barrows' article on the move:
" He rehabilitated every day at the 49ers facility, went on road trips and remained a part of the 49ers' locker room, which is partly why the team wanted him back this year."
That's the type of guy you want on your team. I now love this move even more.

he's better than those two.
We'll see in July and August
Good to hear and we will see if he makes it or not.
