I like Hunter, because he never complains, just goes out and plays ball. I hope we can keep him.

uhhhhh ... one is completely out of commission

If he is working well I say run him early and often to drive up his trade value for a desperate team that injurs its starting RB . I love me some Kendall Hunter tho and see him as a great change of pace guy to whomever wins the every down back job in the future.

Agree.
Really like Hunter's fire. He's a true 100%er.
It will be interesting to see how JH/Baalke handle this.
Giving him more carries to build up his worth in a trade is very smart.
It could even happen before the season starts since many players get injured in TCamp.

i wish there was a way we could keep this dude but with the drafting of latt and hyde as the heirs to gore i dont see them paying hunter well to keep him as a backup.

I wonder if the front office might really like Hunter but be holding back on extending him in order to avoid pi$$ing off Gore. Frank might think . . . "Hey I'm in a contract year too" . . . and become disgruntled sooner than he might otherwise be.
Also, with young Lattimore and Hyde and an extended Hunter the writing would seem to be on the wall on Gore's future for him and the rest of the team. It's not unreasonable to think it could impact the locker room negatively just by the message it would send.

MJD and Ray Rice both carry a little more bodyfat than kendall hunter so those 10lbs cancel out. Kendall out lifted both of them at the combine and I have no doubts he would do so today as well. Not to mention he's faster than both.

MJD ran a 4.39 40yds. dash at the combine. We'd be lucky if Hunter, the career back up is anything close to as good as MJD or Rice.

I kinda thought hunter was going to be a poor man's barry sanders. His first year he looked so shifty out there. He's produced very nicely for us in the spell role.

Hunter ran a 4.53 at the combine, but is really quick. He is a prefect RB for 3rd downs and to mix in every once in a while. He was injury pro in college because he was the lead back. He would have a longer life span in the NFL to work on his current role. I know he isn't as fast as Sproles, but if SF can get Hunter into space with some screen/dunk passes he is hard to tackle! He just isn't a between the tackles for 20 touches a game player.

Yeah Bowman wrecked his knee! We don't know how long it will take for him to come back and play like the beast he is. So they grabbed the Big 10 Defensive Player of the Year. Hunter isn't a 20 carries a game player and wouldn't last the whole season.

Yeah it baffles me hearing people say this like they know it as fact. He was an every down back in college and averaged more than 20 carries/game both college years when he was the bell cow from start to season end. Hunter is just as big as a lot of other starting backs in the league.

He was hurt in most of 2009 because he was the lead back
