Yes heard this as well. Boone refused to take the offer cause he was not satisfied being paid like a Top 15 guard.
That would be a bad deal for him. Here's why:
He's 27 years old with 2 years remaining on his current deal. Signing a 2-year extension means he'll be 31 when he's a FA. 31 years old and he'll only be paid fair market value for 2 seasons. When he finally hits Free Agency, teams will low-ball him due to his age.
From his perspective, it makes sense to want a longer extension right now, or play out his current deal so he can hit free agency when he's 29.. He's just trying to maximize his earning potential. He'll make more money over the life of his career that way. Can't really blame him.
