Brock looked bad early on...but rebounded and played very well the rest of the game. That tipped pass that Whitner picked was a thing of beauty. Don't underestimate this guy...he can play.
Isn't Culliver out for the season? Brock is pretty far down the depth chart, the days of keeping 3-4 starting caliber players on you team ended when the salary cap started. We have Wright waiting in the wings, lets hope he is better. As for the defense in general, we saw how well it works, when it works, last night. You completely shut down the run, you get a lead and make the other team one dimensional. Our corners play under a great deal of pressure to preform, when the other team is behind, and unable to run, they will pass often, and they will sometimes connect, nothing we can do, except hope the pass rush gets home and forces a bad throw, and coverage holds up.
Nice double post....lol

eh, that is debatable. time and time again, you see our cbs play the receivers eyes instead of the ball and get nailed with bogus PI calls. one thing that i do prefer from brock is his willingness to tackle. nnamdi has looked like deion sanders out there in terms of tackling

Great post, very accurate. Our ability to stop the run, made the secondary look like Deion Sanders and Eric Davis were back there.
The wars are ALWAYS won in the trenches.

Our secondary look better because our front 7 shut down the run [18 yards] and put lots of pressure on the QB all noght.

Gore got yards because they called running plays ANF the OLine opened holes. Very good blocking by Miller and Vance.

Tavon Austin was a non-factor - kudos to an excellent performance taking him out of the picture.
brock should never play behind namdi, namdi sux......brock balled out and took the job from namdi last night

This. Yet another case of making threads way too early. He should have learned from the guy who wanted to get rid of Gore. Lulz

Brock made Whitner's pick happen...he was in good position and did what 49er DBs struggle with, which is turn your head to play the ball.

Who the hell was Brock covering last night anyway? Lets not make it seem like he shut down Calvin Johnson.
Actually the one thing the Rams do have is a speedy receiving corp. Something we always struggle with. I was proud of Brock for stepping up and having a good night. Rogers who was shadowing Austin a lot also had a good night. Brown was really up and down, as was Whitner but I was proud of our guys for keeping their heads in it and bouncing back from an error with a big play more often than not.

To be honest what I see is a bunch of solid #2 corners and Safties...with the exception of Reid who while looking like a rook at times as expected is shaping up to be something pretty special. We are going to struggle now and then when the pass rush is slowed and again when facing truely elite recievers because we do not have that number one, shutdown type guy...but teams that just have a pile of good but not elite dudes at wideout..we match up against them better than probably any team in the league the depth we have at CB is insane, even if the best guy isnt really as good as we would like him to be.

Who cares? This was his first major action in almost 2 years and he played great.

And Nnamdi has not played well. He's given up some big pass plays, some huge penalties, and he has 4 missed tackles to 3 made tackles. He's a liability out there and by far our worst DB. Brock deserves another week to prove it as the nickel corner imo.

Does it matter? He made a key play on a Rams 3rd and 1 that changed the momentum of the game.
