I like that we have him, but he better be kicking 40+ PATs, not FGs.

I dont think he needs 40+ like last year but I think we will be in alot of close games this year and we will need him to make all of the kicks that are asked of him. Go 9ers!!

I suspect our entire offense will be improved.
I hope so because you can't expect the defense to duplicate that kind of performance again and especially against a much tougher schedule.

Beefing up on our 3rd down conversion attempts is what JH and company have in mind with the addition of these offensive weapons Imo, there is absolutely no reason why Akers should have to put up the numbers this coming season as he did last season imo...although it is nice to have such a stud kicker just in case but I just don't see why he would have to be relied on as much for this season...just my toughts :)

Yeah.
Its those 25-30 yard fielgoals are the the killer because we are in the redzone.

I'm hoping we don't need him to get anywhere near that many field goals this year. Another year in the offense for Alex, improvements at WR, RB, Guard hopefully. Need to work on drastic improvement in the red zone as well. I really think we are going to see more explosive plays this year due to the speed we have acquired!

This. Long field goals are fine, it's the short one's that mean we missed a red zone opportunity

Last season the Niners defense led the NFL in forced turnovers. The defense was so badass that they forced turnovers in our opponents redzone in nearly every game last season. I'm worried that Akers kicking 40+ field goals won't be enough if the defense can't force that many turnovers again. The niners had one of the worst passing offenses in the league last season. It was saved many times last season when the SF defense handed them the ball near our opponents redzone.
Hell, the defense forced SIX turnovers against the Saints in our playoff win.

No they didn't they forced 3 (Whitners hit, Goldson and Browns ints) The ST forced the rest. Also that same defense got roasted in the 2nd and 4th quarters. The offense bailed them out twice

Live by the turnover, die by the turnover! Game against the NYG sadly proved that. Offense needs to turn FGs into TDs this year (for my sanity) but if they went to and won the super bowl this year by kicking 40 FGs...OK!
