Do you think Kyle Williams will take over punts by opening day?

no

But in all fairness, if KW can do the job and is good at it, who am I to say he shouldn't. Hopefully KW can make a significant rebound and be a quality WR / KR.

Couldn't have said it any better

if he gets cut in camp, a couple guys , including ginn have to elevate thier play cuz right now he is number 3 or 4 at worst. i know you hate that but that is the way it is. You know how the coach works. he does not give a s**t what people think, it would be just like him to let kyle go out and do punts and kickoffs. i used to think ginn was secure but i would not totally discount the theory posed by the poster on this topic. you and i both thought crabs would be traded on draft day

they paid him $500k guaranteed, I doubt they would have done that if they thought his spot was in danger.

good point. something to keep an eye on
Yes, if we can't trade him. I like Teddy Ginn, but in the numbers game I don't see it, in the pre cap era no question he makes it, but now...If P. Cox can retune kicks...well it's all about cap space and money now a days.

I mean it is conceivable that he gets cut but I just hope they keep him for special teams purposes.

This 2012 season is the best (or close to) opportunity for ring # 6, so I just can't see us sacrificing such a reliable and proven return weapon all for the sake of a WR with higher upside later (KW). Feels like a big mistake, if we were to cut Ginn loose right now... but guess we'll see...

Ginn is proven but not reliable. He's had nagging injuries since coming here.

That being said - Moss, Crabtree, Manningham, Jenkins all make the team imo. I bet Seely makes the call on the 5th WR, so I think Ginn stays with Cox & (possibly) LMJ backing him up. Or they could cut both Ginn & KW to roll with Cox & Cartwright as return men (least likely given the RB situation imo).
I think we should have four safties and six receivers this year. Didn't last year, we had 5 safties and 5 WR's on the team?

goldson
whitner
M. williams
jones
reggie smith.

I seriously doubt we need 5 safties on this team this year.
