HOWEVER, from someone who used to make a living at throwing parties, the one thing you can't do is lose control of that s**t. Understand the extent of your guest list. You can't always be in control of that but it's so much easier to hire some security at the door to check for heat or knives than have some dumb mo fo get shot on the premises. There's always one. Security. I can't say it enough. Worth every bill. No exceptions. If you're not on the list, your ass aint gettin in. No discussions. This controls the crashers who are only comin to eat your food and drink your booze. Let the neighbors and the cops in the community know you're throwing a party so if something goes down, YOU don't get confused with the idiots and arrested and the police and the neighbors will respect you a lot more - shows responsibility. You can still party and control it - yes, it is possible.
