His salary is guaranteed for 2014, cutting him would accelerate his signing bonus....also if we release him we don't get a comp pick??

However, if you feel like I was mischaracterizing what you said then I apologize. I thought you were basically saying, "look, no matter what, Aldon is a 49ers, and he deserves our unconditional support." I guess you were instead saying that we should give him the benefit of the doubt in this particular case. (I disagree with that, because his history has given us no reason to give him the benefit of the doubt.)
Anyway, wasn't trying to twist your words, so sorry if it came off that way.

Originally posted by English:No. This is being blown way out of proportion by various people for their own reasons. Anyone here not believe that every single other NFL team would be beating a path to his door if we did something that stupid?
And what would be the justification. He said (not yelled) the word "bomb" in an airport. Not bright. Not a good idea. But most of all, absolutely no justification for presenting another team with one of the best young pass rushers in the league.
What would it achieve? Nothing apart from screwing up our own team. I have to believe Baalke has more common sense.

The team appears to be preparing for a substancial suspension by the commish. They backed him after all of the nonsense of the past, and he was able to dodge a suspension last year because of the intervention by Smith and the team to get him to rehab, but it appears they have had it with his erratic behavior.

You guys are nuts!!!!! He hasnt even been charged yet, and why let this silly mistake be the breaking point. If Aldon Smith is gone, so many teams will literally try to swoop him up in minutes. he will be a beast for them and all you so called fans calling for his head will look stupid for years to come! I'm sick of all this local media and fans blowing this out of proportion and calling for his head.
Yes. They act like a 24 year old just absolutely cannot be set straight. He has produced too much to give up on him now short of any real heinous crimes committed. AJJ I can see trading but not Aldon. Ahmad Brooks did worse than this! And who cares about PR when we haven't won yet. We get bad pub by our beat writers and others just because.Originally posted by KingCrabs:You guys are nuts!!!!! He hasnt even been charged yet, and why let this silly mistake be the breaking point.
