CJ Spillman vs Goldson

We should just give everyone what they think they deserve, problemo solved.
Goldson is better, but hes in line for a big contract, and the Niners cant afford to pay up. Hes gone after this season IF he signs.

yes he was one of our MVPs last year.....in fact you can easily point to how our defense played when he wasn't one the field, compared to how they played when he was on the field.

Not saying Goldson is a better "player" than Justin Smith....or he is more important...but i will say that losing Goldson for a few games would impact our defense more, than losing Smith for a few games.

also just because a guy is shorter than someone, yet weighs similar..doesn't mean he would be automatically stronger. Dashon looks/plays much bigger than his 200lbs listing. Where as Spilllman looks skinnier on the field.
blah, Goldson tackled two niners in the Giants game who probably would have had interceptions. Might have never had to go to overtime if it wasn't for those. But he did have a great interception in the Saints game. Unless he agrees to some humility with the monitary negotiations he probably won't be with the niners after this seasaon.

his play is complemented by our front seven. if someone overpays him, they will b sorry. i just know that it won't b us. we have developed him into a good player, but he isn't all of a sudden ed reed or palomalu
Are we seriously debating between Goldson and Spiller?

Love the sarcasm with the Spiller. But yes we are, because Goldson doesn't seem to trust the winning formula and front office that resigned all of its top players while yet he had to be franchised because he has his head up your ass. Plus there are 70 some odd days till training camp, and Barrows mentioned Spillman. What else is there to talk about?

no sarcasm... typo lol, just got done texting my buddy who's last name is spiller.

2nd of all... Spillman cant even hold Goldson's jock strap. Goldson is a pretty damn good player, he wants to get paid like one. His career will be over in about 8 years, he wants a secure future like the rest of us. If he signs he signs if he doesnt then oh well. but lets not pretend that spillman, a special teamer is actually a viable replacement.

Justin Smith is the best defensive player in the league. Goldson isn't in the conversation. Spillman is a nice backup and probably would do a fine job if Goldson were to get hurt, especially with our front 7 - led by Justin Smith the unstoppable force.

this is our fan base people...this is what they have become ^

to blame Goldson for the lost in that championship game.....to even blame him for the dropped picks because as a Free Satefy who was one of tops in the league in Picks on a Team that relies on turnovers to win games....for you to blame him for trying to get a turnover in NFC Championship shows how dumb you three are. Its not about having an opinion, it is just dumb.

you might try to consider that as a personal attack, but honestly your logic regarding the issue is what is a personal attack on our intelligence.

Your sarcasm does not amuse me. but youre missing the point. We did this last year. He had a good season and then was slapped with the tag even though he wants a deal. Now he had a ProBowl year and still gets the tag? He's verbally said that he does not want to leave SF. And idk if you watched the first 4 games of the season, but if you look, you'll notice that our D is alot more effective when The Hawk is on the field. He was hurt the first 2 games but he came back for game 3 and four and put had 18 tackles. He may not be the "star" player or "face of our D, but he's def one of the key components to the success; an impact player. I can understand that maybe they're looking to strike gold in the draft next year with all the safety talent soo maybe thats what it is..

Hold up bro. Don't lump what I said to what others have said and call me dumb. U don't know me and unless u have a doctorate degree as I do, then don't call me dumb. Cmon on dude. Don't consider this personal? u call us dumb? Did u see what I wrote? I said his play is complemented by our front seven and that we have developed him from a 4th rd player to a very good starting safety in this league. Is this not true? I also, however said that he doesn't have an ed reed or troy palomalu type resume yet and that judging by our front office track record that we won't overpay him. Do u doubt that? I acknowledge that he is a pro bowler and an integral part of our defense but we can't go crazy paying him. He must compromise to fit here long term just as Carlos Rogers did or we gotta let him walk. Now I quoted the guy before me only to highlight my response but not to fully agree with what he said. And unless u are Goldson's kin folk u should never attack other fans and take care of what u say. And u speak of intelligence? Okay, some people might go over the top and say some outlandish things, but at the end of the day they have an opinion. We don't have to agree and I don't always. That is why I counter with mine. But I don't call others dumb, u shouldn't either, not even in passing reference

I understand your point. Williams bears the brunt of the blame for that loss. However, Goldson's lack of awareness on those two plays were very costly. In particular, the hit on Brown. This brought Brock into the game... which hurt the defense badly. Goldson's tenacity is to be encouraged, but he needs to keep sight of the field in front of him. His lack of awareness did contribute to the loss.

We wouldn't have had to go to overtime if Kyle Williams didn't suck
