I don't understand ppl. He's been beaten up online for poor pass protection over the years but he was solid tonight in pass pro. And he was finding yards tonight that weren't there on his runs. Makes NO sense to cut a guy who is playing his best football in years for a tackling dummy.
Are we watching the same games? James was finding yards but Winston was finding more. An undrafted kid off the street was out playing someone with a couple of years of nfl experience and coaching under his belt. Correct me if I'm wrong but they went up against pretty much the same people in tonight's game. Do you not find anything wrong with it.
Winston hits the hole hard and pushes the pile. James hits the hole and falls over his shoe laces. If the AC is blowing too hard chances are James is going to end up in the dirt.
The only thing James has going for him is his return experience but that's kind of a moot point because I doubt that will be his job anymore. The tape on his returns are actually why I don't like him as a running back. He'll do one of two things: either dance around way to much and end up no where, or try to hit a hole and get no where. You'll notice he has no vision. Doesn't matter if to the left of his blocker he has a chance to spring a bigger gain, the first hole he sees he hits. Gore has vision, Hyde has vision, Winston displays flashes of it, James just doesn't seem to have it and you absolutely need it in our system.
At this point, there's no way we get back even close to what we put in for him. But in my opinion an empty roster spot is worth more than keeping him on just because we don't get a high/mid rounder. I wouldn't cut him but I'd gladly take a low pick to be able to send him to a non nfc team AND free up a roster spot.
Oh and he's a whiny little biotch. There's that too.
