i don't really get why anyone is giving the coaching edge to Coughlin. Yes, he's a good coach. Yes, he's experienced and has won a Super Bowl.
But since 1999 when his Jags went 14-2, he has 5 winning seasons, 4 losing seasons, and 2 .500 seasons, and no more than 12 wins in any season. for his career he is 10-7 in the playoffs. He's a good coach, a fine coach, but Harbaugh's season is a masterpiece.

I wouldn't take any other coach in the league, except maybe Belichick.

we're not "on a run" because we're not streaky and inconsistent like the Giants. we just do what we do.
im not gonna troll your boards. Just a fan who loves his team. I was rooting for you guys last week. Now I get to fly in from LA and get stabbed at Candlestick
You are right, we have been inconsistant throughout the season. but, NONE of that matters now that we are in the playoffs. We just beheaded ATL and the 15-1 Packers. How can we not be confident going into this game?
Truth be told I am very concerned and hope for a great game!
I'd prefer something like 38-3 Niners... last second games are GREAT in hindsight, but another game like last week and I'm worried I might develop an ulcer or an aneurism... or something. BUT, I think It's going to be a game that goes down to the final minutes.... deep breaths...
Actually makes me so F'in happy that this is where this NFC ended, two of the most complete teams in the NFL with two great coaches that have underrated perspective. I think good coaches build complete teams, have ready backups and capable rookies.
Aaron Rodgers v Drew Brees. Ooops, sorry, it's a team sport and you're left with Niners & Giants. Love it! 1991 revenge time.

Harbaugh is the best rookie coach ever in the NFL. No question in my mind.

Yes. I have never seen a team so well coached, at any level or in any sport. When I watch the niners, its as if Harbaugh has everything planned out before the game and it happens according to that plan. What people fail to mention is that we could have easily won the three games we lost if not for 1 or 2 plays each game (vs. DAL going with the FG, vs. BAL Braylon Edwards giving up on the deep ball pass/bad call on Ginn TD, vs. AZ two near missed INTs on deep balls to Fitz). Think about that. Assuming all our other games went the same, we very easily could have been undefeated. Add in this season's unique circumstances, and the way he has redeemed Alex Smith, and he's been spectacular.
He and his staff will have the players ready to go tomorrow. It's a big reason why I have a feeling we'll be going to the SB.

Who would I rather have as coach of the Niners right now? Nobody!

I think we will have a better idea next year. If Harbaugh can "repeat" this (doesn't necessarily have to be 13-3) then he is legit. I believe he will. It's not like we run some gimmicky offense. Even with everyone having film on us...you have to take into account that Alex and the offense will FINALLY have an off season to learn this offense AND add new sht. I think an 11-5 type season next year would solidify Harbaugh as one of the best. Now obviously if we bomb and end up 9-7...then it's a diff story.
