any comeback when the last drive puts you ahead is a comeback victory i can agree witht he arguement of giants game as we were down 1 going into 4th scored a TD immeadietly and then never really looked back
but the other games
cin- drove team last drive TD
eagles- drove multiple TD drives
seattle drove last FG drive
lions- literally last second drive
all those should definitally count as comebacks because the last possesion niners had all gave them the lead
however you are right in the arguement tje giants game asa comeback win
Sure it was the last "scoring drive," but was not the last time we had the ball. The last scoring drive we got the ball back with 6:40 plus seconds on the clock and only needing a FG. That is not exactly a high pressure comeback type atmospher. Technically, you are right, but I just dont see it the same.
If the situations with Joe and Smith are the same, then I disagree with you. On the other hand, if the person who wrote the article is ignoring that Joe's were all 2 min drills resulting in TDs required to win, while Smith's are not, then you have a point. I guess someone should look at each "comeback" at issue and report back, eh?
THANK YOU ERIC BRANCH FOR ANSWERING THE CHALLENGE POSTED ABOVE!!!
He analyzed each QB's comeback here - http://blog.sfgate.com/49ers/2011/12/30/comparing-the-comebacks-joe-vs-alex/
I'm very pleased with Smith's comebacks, but this seems pretty clear: Joe's were far more impressive, and he was more instrumental in them, than Smith's.

Just like Tom Brady hasn't won a SB without his kicker Adam Vinatieri can't compare to Montana!

What is the exact definition of a QB comeback win? For instance, with the eagles, I would give that comeback win to Justin Smith, not anyone else. We did not have any passing TD's in the 4th quarter either.

I wouldn't,I'd say he sealed the win with that excellent play at the end but there were several 49ers and coaches responsible for that comeback win-
a team effert

Joe's comebacks were more dramatic. Smith's comebacks turned haters to drama queens.

If Alex doesn't play literally perfect in the 3rd quarter there would be no comeback.

By the same standard, you'd have to give the credit of winning The Catch NFC Championship to the defense as they were the people who put on quite a few plays to stop the Cowboys on what would have been a game winning drive right after The Catch drive. Without that Danny White fumble, 10 more yards, and the Cowboys would be in the field goal range.

Lol what part of a forced fumble lead to us scoring more points? It sealed the win, but we already had the lead by then.

Alex Smith's current streak of 160 pass attempts without an interception is second-longest in 49ers history. (Steve Young, 183, in 1993.)
