Ideally we would find an actual pass rushing OLB to replace Brooks if it comes down to it.
honestly our LBs would have more sacks if teh front 3+1 could not get so much pressure. aldon and justin are SO dominating why bring an extra rusher.

Aldon and Willis will be all time greats IMO. Willis already is. Only a matter of time until people recognize Aldon that way. Bowman is very, very good. This is a heck of a LB group.

He just earned himself a new contract with some other team last night.
Exactly what I was thinking.

The most exciting thing about this is how Aldon played last night - his play, if he can keep it up, will take some focus off Willis and THAT could result in all kinds of awesome.

There's no doubt that your LB's are very good, but, best of all time? I give you the DOME PATROL!. Ricky jackson,Pat Swilling,Vaughn Johnson,Sam Mills. All 4 made the probowl as starters in 1992. The only time that has ever happened. A combined 13 probowls in their careers. NFL.com voted them #1 of all time.If the Saints had had an off. and wasn't in the NFC West with a certain great team, ....

First, welcome.
Second, no one claims that our lbs are the best; they are just saying the potential is there.
Third, on the Dome Patrol, check post #30 for some props.

willis and bowman are playing as well as any ilb in the league right now and the hybrid aldon smith is becoming a game changer but to me the depth we have at linbacker is what makes this group great

@ Magzarillios, yes I agree I don't see making that move just yet.
@Bryant4everyoung Great idea was thinking the same, work him in the rotation, We have seen him blitz, hes a very good pass rusher and I think he is a much better cover guy than Brooks or Haralson.

Yup. The Dome Patrol is the standard. Willis and Bowman are far more talented than Mills and Johnson inside. It's outside where we still need to put it all together. Aldon Smith has a chance to be special and I think we still need a fourth piece to complete the group. I know Haralson isn't that piece and I'm not 100% sure about Brooks. But the potential is there.

A friend of mine asked me if I thought Patrick Willis is the best linebacker in the NFL.
I answered back by saying I'm not sure if Willis is the best linebacker on the 49ers, this unit is THAT good. All of them have delivered time after time after time this season. They are the real deal.
(of course PW is the best linebacker in the NFL!)

sorry, but the others are far from irrelevant and could walk into a starting position on ANY NFL team.

LOL. Brooks and Haralson are decent but thats about it. Bowman and Smith are in their first years as dominant LBs. I doubt anyone is seriously going to rank them with the greatest of all time at this point ( well other than you obviously} If Smith and Bowman continue to improve and they get another dominant OLB then they could be right up there. Just not yet.
Best LB groups ever in my opinion:
86 NYG Lawrence Taylor Harry Carson Carl Banks
85 Bears Wilbur Marshall Mike Singletary Otis Wilson

That's like saying Babe Ruth would be a good player in the present era. Those guys are too small and unathletic compared to today's players. They were great... by 1980s standards. Singletary and Taylor are the only one's who could compete at this level.
