We don't run more screens because we are one of the worst lines in the league at blocking for screens. It takes great timing by the o-linemen and some agility. Staley's the only guy who can move laterally. Everyone else has lead feet. That's why every time you see us run a delay or screen to a RB, it gets blown up in ugly fashion.

That has been my impression, too, except I suspect the line could pull off a screen if they worked on it more in practice. But then, is it worth burning up a lot of practice reps trying for improve a shaky line with a play that you may only call a couple of times a game? But, if the you can get the line to play a half way decent screen, then you would be likely to call the play much more often. But, as you suggest, maybe the line isn't up to it even with a lot more practice time devoted to it. Is the lack of screens a sign of good coaching because the players just don't have the right kind of athleticism for it, or is it that the coaches aren't coaching the skills properly or is it that the coaches don't value screens in their offensive philosophy?
