89 team had more yards overall in the playoffs, 94 team scored more points, but not many. 94 team also scored more in the regular season. 89 team won one more game though.
pretty tough call, really. both were extremely great offenses, great teams.

Man I'd hate to live on the difference. Both operated with machine-like efficiency and were ridiculously explosive but I have a soft spot for the 89 team.

that's a tough one--overall the 89 team would beat the 94 team more times than not The 89 defense was better.

89!
94 team primarily won the NFC championship. Because of a defensive player and once he left could no longer do it.
The 89 team only didn't three peat because Craig fumbled.

89 Niners - 14-2 (with the most dominant playoff performance in NFL history, outscoring opponents 126-26 and winning their fourth Super Bowl victory)
94 Niners - 13-3 (with a loss at the hands of little known fellow who was the QB for the 89 Niners)

Joe, it was more than one defensive player. The 49ers lost Ricky Watters after 94 also who was a HUGE part of the offense. Even Steve Young was really POed at the front office for letting Ricky go and with him went any semblance of a reliable running game. Terry Kirby and Dexter Carter were terrible replacements. Not until Garrison Hearst's arrival did we again have a runner who could actually balance the passing attack. Yes we had problems when Sanders left, but Young got killed and the offense became one dimensional because Young became the team's primary running back. I remember watching those games. :(
This, 49ers got curb-stomped by the Packers the following year largely because they had no running game. The Walker fumble still gives me nightmares to this day. Had the 49ers resigned Ricky Watters, I could have seen them winning at least 1-2 more Superbowls. Derek Loville and his 3 yards per carry simply wasn't up to the task.

and the 84 team might be even better than the 89 or 94 teams--that was a great Niner team 18-1 one loss 17-14 to the Steelers. They beat the Marino team that was what--16-2?
