Did anyone else see the play when Smith put Oher on his backside? Smith didn't do a whole lot in the game, but I thought that play was pretty impressive. Kid clearly has a bright future.

Would be nice if the coaching staff let him play a little more often.

Ya that was pretty impressive especially considering Oher is in the 98th percentile in protective instincts.

That was really sweet! It seemed everytime aldon was in he was able to put some heat on...no idea why they used him so little but there's no excuse outside of injury.

he's being used the same way we used Fred Dean and Charles Haley, right? 3rd down pass rushers...

Pretty disappointed that we didn't put more pressure on Flacco since he is known to make mistakes fumbling the ball, etc. No reason why by the middle of 3rd quarter that Fangio didn't adjust and get more pressure on him?

He also had a pretty thunderous tackle late in the game. He's shown a lot of speed, now he's starting to show more strength too.

He was in the backfield quite a bit last night, didn't come up with much stat-wise but definitely showed promise against a strong o-line.

I was keeping my eye on Aldon every time he was in the game, and IMO, he transformed his game last night.
In most of the games this year, he usually relies on his speed to get to the QB. Yesterday, Aldon was playing angry...he did a bull rush and almost had Flacco quite a few times. Those would be sacks on most occasions.
This guy isn't just a speedy guy with a good motor. He can absolutely destroy an LT if he needs to. I admire his performance last night...Anyone see the plays he made in the run game?

He is what he is....a guy who is pretty much a 4-3 DE right now, which is his role in the nickle, when he comes in. He didn't show much in a pass rush last night, but made a couple good tackles on run plays (the one at the end of the 3rd quarter was solid). To me, last night was a mixed performance, but nothing that altered the team's fate.
He is a guy who shows bursts of excitement, but is not a consistent all-around player right now. His coverage skills are raw, and that is why he is almost completely limited to rushing off the edge in nickle situations.
In the last month, he is probably the fourth best OLB in this draft, behind Von Miller, Ryan Kerrigan, and Brooks Reed. These guys are making a larger impact than Smith, mostly due to the number of snaps. However, his career is young. I'd just like to see the 7th overall pick get on the field more.

He almost had a sack last night but somehow Flacco got rid of the ball. I saw him getting constant pressure for most of the night

The 49ers game planned to shut down Ray Rice on passes out of the backfield. Coverage is still an area needing improvement for Smith. I don't expect to see him getting more minutes than he currently is...until next season.
