Do you see more 49er fans on away games? (@sancarlosbrad)
Mindi Bach and I took Metro on Sunday morning from our hotels in Arlington, Va., to Landover, Md. And, yes, we saw a huge contingent of 49ers fans on the train and on the 9/10ths-mile walk from the station to the stadium.
We spoke with several fans we hadn't seen before. And we also saw some people from around the country whom we've gotten to know through the years because they are regulars at 49ers games -- home and away.
It does seem that the numbers of 49ers jerseys in the stands at road games are growing as the wins this season continue to pile up.

I went to my first game in another stadium last year for opening day against the Seahawks in Seattle. There were a TON of niner fans there that day. The niners clearly have fans all over the place, the fact that they don't suck this year is probably bringing them out a little more, coaxing them to travel a little bit from where they are.

I don't know... you would think only the hard core go to away games. How many bandwagon fans are willing to go into hostile territory? With the team winning it might mean fans that go to home games now are willing to spend the extra to fly and the time to go to away game. Could also mean 49ers fans from the away area who might be die hards are willing to spend the money to go to see the team. In this economy it takes a lot of motivation to go to an away game IMO. Watch on tv or spend big bucks to go into a hostile crowd and probably get beer thrown on you and swore at, etc.

when you team wins, it's worth coming out to support them.
I live in California and been to 49er games when they were losing, it's just that it's worth the ticket to watch them play.
Why spend a lot of money to management to produce a weak product? It costs a lot of money to travel with the team and now that they are winning, people are more inclined to spend the money.

People live across the country, people wont spend the money to see the 9ers play when they come to their city but are losing (Nolan, Sing), now that we are winning they will spend the money and see the team play.
Its not a matter of Cali residents traveling around the country, its the 9er fans around the country actually going to the games now. Like I stated before I live in FL and will go to any 9er game in the state...its just that they never play here

Whenever they come to Dallas or Houston (which is very rare in Houston) I am there. I do make it to one home game a year too.

The Niner chants we were getting yesterday were putting a big smile on my face. If they are bandwagon, and they show up to those away games and do THAT, I welcome them with open arms.
