Not seeing how the Packers or Saints could score on us. They haven't played anybody near the caliber of our defense.
It won't be a shootout.

When were leading in a game, and our defense is playing GREAT, Harbaugh is not going to take shots down the field and risk turning it over. When he has he does open up the offense.

I am most concerned about our third down play calling.
We have stretched the field a little more over the past few games. Nice play to Miller today and it would have been another big play if Vernon comes up with that catch (which he has to catch).

Well, at 7-1 this team can be really special if the passing game gets on track.

I think JH did some experimenting in this game working toward opening up the offense more. Particularly at the beginning of the game we saw:
1. Up tempo offense trying to call plays and audibles with an informal or no huddle.
2. More big shifts in formations
3. More deep drops and pass plays
I think JH saw this game as a fairly safe game to try expanding the offense. But when the Redskins DL was getting pressure, shifting and play calling wasn't going smoothly, etc, he backed off and focused on just getting the win.
The thing is, this tells me that JH has a plan, and hopefully we see the offense get more aggressive and successful with the passing game.

I think that is crazy talk. The defense has done a great job, but get real, the last two games have been against the BROWNS and REDSKINS. There were a lot of open guys today for the Redskins that Beck completely missed seeing. Brees and Rogers won't miss those kinds of opportunities. More importantly, they'll make opportunities when they are able to make throws even against tight coverage.
I'm psyched about the 49ers, but they aren't THERE yet, from what I see they need to keep improving to compete with the elite teams.

Calling runs non-stop, getting scared when Vernon coughs up the ball and going full on conservative, not letting Alex air it out. I mean goddamn. Im happy for the win but when Baltimore and Pitts comes in were gonna get destroyed if this keeps up.
IMO it seems as if we were/are experimenting and trying to find what works. It looked like they wanted to try the Peyton Manning thing today with calling plays at the LOS. These are things that they didn't get to do with no off season. Plus our D is legit so I'm not too worried

We're there.
The Packers defense is absolutely horrible. Wretched. That makes their current perceived ability unsustainable.

The passing game is so close to taking off. Smith hit Crabs perfectly today and the tempo seems to have picked up. I see something brewing.

The only problem with our offense: not executing the gimme plays. Vernon Davis has always had sub-par hands but he really needs to keep on with that jug machine.

The problem is in almost every game we go up early and then we control the game. We don't want to do something dumb, like a turnover (i.e. Smith throwing an interception), and instead they let Gore run the ball and Smith make high percentage, smart passes. We don't need to do any eccentric. This is why we pound the rock nonstop. It's nice nursing a two score lead and controlling the clock. Hell, let the other team get garbage time points, I do not care.
However, look at the Eagles game. Down by 20, Harbaugh reached into his bag of plays and we came out throwing more, but we still ran the ball quite often. I love this mentality. We knew we had some time to work with, and the running game still helped our passing game greatly in a time of need. We kept the Eagles D guessing and thus, 21 unanswered points to beat the hype machine 24-23 in their own turf.
One last statement. If you're running the ball and it's working... why start passing? Gore now has 100+ yards in the last 5 games. Stick with what's working. Pound the rock and play great Defense.
Go Niners! Great game today.

On the contrary, I believe this 49ers D can play against the Packers and the Saints offenses quite well. They'll definitely get their shots, that's for sure. But we can definitely compete against them with out defense. I could honestly see us holding them to 24 points or so. Maybe 14 on a good day. But if we can keep them to 24 points and this offense can start capitalizing on its opportunities, it'll be a game.
As of now, I don't believe we're better than these teams, BUT we can definitely compete without a doubt in my mind. We've already contained Mike Vick and the Eagles offense. Vick threw for 400+ yards against us, but only mustered up 23 points doing as much. And it still wasn't enough.

True, but You look at how we did this against Dallas and they kept scoring. Hence, only lost
