My final answer
we are too busy finding ways to win and not focusing on getting 1 player more touches

because soap and staley know how to run after the catch. They don't come to a complete stop, then try to juke someone.
They also know how to run routes and get separation.. Vd is still learning that.

Vernon Davis would have had a touchdown today if Alex thought the two steps he had on the defender in the endzone qualified as being open enough to warrant a pass attempt.
But anyways, he isnt utilized enough still. Im hoping we run some plays to utilize his speed more (crossing routes, misdirections, etc.)
What play are you talking about.
he's talking about the TD to Crabtree...which by the way is absolutely ridiculous lol Crabtree was the clear #1 option.

When Vernon isn't pass blocking, he's usually being double and triple teamed. So if his role is then creating more favorable matchups outside for our wideouts, than so be it. It's better than Alex forcing balls into windows that aren't there and getting picked off. So people criticise not throwing him the ball, but if we did and there were picks, then we'd be criticising THAT. It's a no-win situation. But Vernon WILL have his opportunities this year and he WILL make big plays.

It's pretty easy to answer why, since Morgan got injured. Put up the names of our receivers and ask yourself who would you doubled.
Crabtree, Williams, Walker and VD
Pretty clear they are taking away VD and let the other guys try to beat them.
this
BS.
A. Morgan is not that good. His loss shouldn't affect VD's production significantly. Especially with Edwards back.
B. If it's at all true, it speaks to our problems at QB and play calling. Otherwise every top WR/TE or other receiving target would never catch a pass because they get "doubled".
i stopped at morgan is not that good. you obviously have no idea what your talking about
Morgan is not THAT good. He's good enough. He's an ok #2 at best. A #3 on a good team. He's not a game changing WR, he's a solid player. Not someone who makes your best receiver into a nobody if he doesn't play.

After watching Sunday Night Football, this question has me even more perplexed. Romo throws to Witten on just about every play. How come our team apparently needs VD to block, but Witten gets to run around free on every play? On the other side of the ball, Brent Celek was running free all night too.
It continues to perplex me how we can have the most talented TE in the NFL, and yet it's commonplace to hear his name called 2-3 times per game.

It doesn't make sense. Apparently our pass blocking isn't that good without him.

I think it's because both of those teams have big play WRs that attract a lot of attention. We don't really have a deep threat at WR.

As the old saying, there is only 1 football..Would VD be getting more touches if Byham was blocking at the TE position ? Sort of like last yr,when VD was in the wide reciever position..

WCO. You got to spread the ball around. Sopoaga & Staley need their touches too!
